Re: Sound problem
The settings file has allow CD music = True
I went ahead and bought a new CD player/writer. I can play the music on the CD with WMP. No problem. I also notice that when I go to "My Computer" the Icon for the CD is missing, also sometimes I am unable to open the readme file on the CD or either of the directories. Just now I was able to open them, but I could not open any of the files in the Extras directory. I was asked to make sure the CD was in the drive. And everything works fine on the old PC. |
Re: Sound problem
If the cd drive is new then it seems to be a windows problem, drivers or something. Maybe you could try the Recovery Console, i've never used XP, bah, i hate it, i've 2k and so far only minor problems.

Re: Sound problem
I only hate windows software that I've used. Which is just about all of it. However, in this case, I don't know how it can be an XP problem. Everything else works just fine. Granted this is a new computer set up, and the only games I have installed are Prince of Persia and Knights of Honor. Knights has a soundtrack and there is no problem hearing it. I suspicious of the CD itself. Seems odd that sometimes I can open the readme file and at other times I cannot.
I will try making a copy of it on the old computer which has no problem with the disk and see what happens. |
