I d othe same thing. I drink pepsi mostly (or used to), but whenever I had Jack Daniels it was always with coke. Pepsi was never sweet enough for Jack. Rum however I always thought was too sweet mixed with coke, so that I mixed with pepsi. Now I drink Dr. Pepper, tastes to me kinda like cherry coke.

The differences in recipes from one country to the other are quite interesting. I drink pepsi like there is no tomorrow (It's my coffee) And use Coke and RC as emergency standbye's when I can't get the Pepsi. When I took my Honeymoon in Australia I noticed the Pepsi was quite wretched and the Coke tasted the same but had a slight perfume smell to it and gave me a headache. I was in Tahiti in '83 and drank Coke that was made in Amsterdam! It was quite delicious. Now I chase Jaegermeister with Pepsi!
As a family we frequently traffic cases of Ting back from the Carribean.

Ya, it is bizarre how sodas are brewed differently in different places and at different times. I guess the mark-up on sugar water is so profitable that soda megacorps find it profitable to hire scientists to constantly analyze flavor preferences and adjust.

So what's this about emptying a 12-pack of Pepsi into the crisper and leaving it there?

Well the old story about Guiness being better in Ireland is by all accounts true. Of my friends who drink the dark stuff and have been to Dublin, Cork, etc, all have agreed it is a very different drink.

Of course how much is the mental idea 'It's better here so it must taste nicer' and how much is down to water/the wretched state of the factory is a different question.

Yeah, OK, it does sound funny if you say it that way... lol.
No, I'm just saying the cardboard 12-pack of cans gets dumped into the drawer and stock is held at a consistant level. Life without the occasional can of pepsi on-demand is no life at all.

(and two years later I still want to know why I have to spell "shield" incorrectly in the tags to put a sheild on my left arm.)

I never noticed that. I bet Shrapnel didn't either. Mention it to them and they will probably fix it.

But the real question for this thread is: Who calls carbonated beverages soda? I personally call it pop, not soda.

I refer to carbonated sugar-water as soda. Noone around here (southern California) that I know says pop.

This map shows usage in the USA by county.

I grew up in a soda area and now live in a pop area.
