As far as I know, the restrictions on profanity are guided by the 'direction' of said profanity.
Thus if you were to say, for example, 'Oh, f***' in reaction to something, you're nice & protected and there's not much anyone can really do, aside from tut-tutting your uncouth language.
If your reaction to said tut-tutting happens to be, 'Yeah well f*** you.' then you could wind up in troube since your language was directed at someone in particular.

In my job at the moment, I'm doing tech support for the Irish market, and when you have them on the phone you hear endless amounts of 'This is s*****' and 'For f***'s sake!' But regardless of if you find it offensive, the company policy is that you put up with it. If however someone turns around and directs such language at you personally, you're allowed to simply inform them you won't take that kind of language and hang up on them.

Ah, so if someone happens to be offended by the word "bless", and sneezes, and the person on the phone says "bless you", then that's profanity and they are entitled to hang up?
