Re: OT: Things we do to our pets
I used to have a cat that would be lying down in a room and suddenly get up and take off running straight for the sliding glass door. Normally she'd stop and veer off for her food dish before hitting the glass, but one day while I was changing the bathroom cabinents, I put the mirror leaning up against the glass door.
She took off running and just slammed into the mirror, she didn't break the mirror, but you could tell that the poor cat got knocked for a loop. She sat there dazed for a minute, and resumed running. |
Things we do to our pets
I don`t do a lot of things to my cats... they usually are sleeping in different places in my flat...
But if you like to see mad-cat dashes, you should see when I open the food container... I have ten of the little beasts to feed. And, yes I use CONTAINERS of food, I have to buy 30 lb (15 kg) bags of cat food, and each one lasts some 25 days! I love them all, and I know each of their "hobbies", and favourite rest places. You can see that they are pretty well organized in a "chain of command"... besides you know which of them are friends, and which of them start attacking each other if they happen to be close enough! Very funny when they start chasing each other from up and down the furniture! They like to get inside empty boxes or bags also... I now know that cat behaviour is truly international! |
Re: Things we do to our pets
We had 3 cats. A mother and 2 nearly grown kittens. Last week, the mother decided that she needed 2 more kittens so now we're looking at 5. 2 are only 4 days old though.
When the first 2 kittens were still really small, the ONLY place they would sleep is on me. On my back, legs, side, whereever I stopped moving. Now that they are older, one of them has taken a liking to sleeping on my head at night. No one else's head will do. Has to be mine. We've also got a dog. 70 lbs rotwiler lab cross. She loves the cats too. She's the only dog who roams the neigbourhood freely (only one behaved enough, I think), so our cats have no fear. They've got the ultimate backup. The neighbor cats will actually come over to our house, scratch on the door and when I open it, our cats will run out to go 'play'. My wife asked "Why would the other cats do something like that?" My answer was: Think of it like this, to cats and dogs, they live in a world where might makes right. If it were humans and everyone had a gun, wouldn't you want to be friends with the only guy on the street who owns a tank? |
Re: Things we do to our pets
When I used to live at home we had a cat and you know how a cat that's about 10 inches long stretches when it's lying in the sun and goes to 3 feet long ? Well ours would do that and when you would give it a litle nug because she was taking up all the floor space and you wanted to get by - she would raise her left paw and the nail would extend out of her middle toe - the truth !

Yeah I've been really busy lately and unfortunately still have a LOT of work to do on the newest chapter of my story heh.
Anyway yeah cats are great because they do stupid clutsy stuff and then just look at you like "Yeah I meant to do it shut up.....stop looking at me." |
