Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Actually I do have a bit of helpful advice. It might work only for me, but when I start to feel nervous, or "Freaking out" as I call it, I find a nice lie in a hot bath does wonders to calm me down.

Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
I'd like to thank you all for your advice & support. I do rather wish the rest of my friends were as understanding. I had a sit down with my housemates last night where I explained what had been going on, since they had been worried about me. Afterwards, I left them for a couple hours to talk it over amongst themselves, and when I came back I found they'd come to the conclusion that they didn't feel comfortable having me in the house anymore and want me to move out. I explained to them that I wasn't dangerous & that the lies that had so upset them were a symptom of the illness (to put it simply). Unfortunately, they're sticking to their original decision.
I've decided to head back to Canada, since I don't really have anywhere else to go. Fortunately, my family was a lot more supportive, & are doing all they can to help me get home. My sister, who is good friends with a couple of the housemates, said she'd have a word with them to see if she could get them to give me a bit more time, at least enough to get whatever records & need off the doctors & get all my stuff boxed up. Still, all in all, I think it's a pretty crappy ending to my time living in Ireland. PS: Anybody have any ideas on shipping a computer overseas? |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Wow, that sucks AZ. Can't you find somewhere else to live? Still, if they don't understand and aren't prepared to give you a chance then maybe you're better off without them.
As for shippign the PC: If it's not a state of the art wowbox I'd rwecommend taking the hard drive out, selling the rest of the hardware, then using the money to buy a new home for your HD when you reach your destination. |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
I'm so sorry. Please believe it will get better and all things for a reason. Isn't that what keeps us going?

Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Well, I've talked to them a bit more, and while they still want me to go, I'm at least not getting the bum's rush. They seem to feel that I'd be best off with my family around me, & I tend to agree. The tension in the house has dropped by quite a bit & they're starting to treat me a bit more 'normally'. That's probably due to a combination of them having a bit of time to adjust & me being just so goshdarn likeable http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif . Still, I have to say I'm rather amazed at the amount of junk I've collected over the years and figuring out how to get all of it home is going to be a nightmare.
There's just one thing I'm a bit worried about. The last few days, I've been hearing a strange buzzing noise, but there's never anyone around for me to ask if they hear it too. So what's kind of bugging me is if, somehow, the doctors managed to make a mis-diagnosis (not bloody likely, but bear with me), could the medication I'm taking be causing me problems? ie: a non-psychotic taking anti-psychotics would begin to exhibit psychotic symptoms? There's a lot of things in the house that could be making the strange noise, & it being in my head is last on my list of causes but the fact that it only started after I started on my medication bugs me a bit... |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Depending on what Medication you're on it can be an uncommon Side Effect of the drugs. I certainly remember 'Ringing in the Ears' being a side effect on some of the drugs I used to take.
You might want to research the Side Effects of the medication you're on. |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Ear plugs should help you decide if it is a real sound coming from the house or not.
Tinnitus is annoying. |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
I agree with RD and SJ. Of course it could be a side-effect or tinnitus (ear ringing). The best idea would be to sit in a room you've heard it before with another person, being completely quiet and seeing if you both hear it. If you do and they don't, I start looking at the medications or another symptom of the schizophrenia.

But a 'non-psychotic' taking anti-psychotic medications wouldn't experience any different side-effects from the actual psychotic. It's the same medication either way. So you ought to research the medication as already suggested and see if 'ringing in the ear' or other auditory effects are among the known side-effects. |
Re: Completely AZ: Little Help?
Definitly get it checked out, both to see if it is in your head and talk to your doctor.
