I would like to be Vanheim. I have only played the tutorial so I'm a total newbie.

Any of Glory of the Gods, Orania, Dawn of Dominions or Cradle of Dominion would be good for 15 players.
I think victory points are a good idea for large maps otherwise the games can go on forever.

Is it necessary to get 15 players to start? I'd actually be fine w/ starting w/ nine, although getting to 12 might be nice.

I find random maps to be fun, if a bit nuts. But im open to whatever map

Large maps are cool, but keep in mind that the game will be running for a LONG time, most likely.
