If he is using a downloaded MOD it could be bad because the download was bad (it does happen), so if he is I would reccomend download it again.

Only other possibility is that the missile *is* firing but being immediately destroyed by point dfence.

Do you play with sound effects on? That would help detrmine whether or not this is happning.
