Logically you might think that the cauldrons should work together but I think its an "everything" rule at the moment. Instead of a long list of what the game can add together and what it cant, its just "doesnt stack".

Or maybe 50 is just how many he can put up with crowding around him when he yells "come and get it". And for some reason, the wine doesnt seem to get as far before its mysteriously all gone. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Astral mages are very good protection versus mind hunt.

But with the right items you can get 250 supply from one commander. It's not a matter of crowding.

I do agree that it's simply a hardcoded rule that nothing stacks with itself. Since similar items do stack, however, it's silly as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, we need something bigger than the cauldron. It's annoying to have a big pile of commanders along with an army just to carry the cauldrons to feed it.

I've never had supply problems in Dom3 because of the reworked system. Maybe my armies aren't big enough :/

Anyway, I find the stacking rules pretty intuitive because I'm used to RPGs, and besides... it's much easier to stomach that damn broth with a little wine.

There is one exception to the rule, though, of course: The "Heart of Life" can be applied multiple times, at least according to the item description.

Oh, try Late Era R'lyeh on a huge map if you want to be wondering how you're going to feed the hordes... :p

Think the one case where it's not really clear how multiple items interact would be the (arguably odd...) case of a commander bearing multiple shields. I'm not sure that anybody would ever field a commander with both Aegis and Barrier, but if somebody did, I have no idea how the blocking rules would work.

The description for the heart, as i remember it(could be wrong) states thata single commander may have multiple magic hearts, not multiple hearts of life.(ie a cystal heart and the heart of life)

The shields wouldnt be the same shield so they both might work. Plus many of the factors would fall into the formulas which figure out a units armor and defense and chance to parry etc etc. Im not sure if those formulas take into account WHICH item is in use.

Someone could probably run some tests on the minim-map battle simulator. (someone other than me, Im not that good at tests)
