Here's the current research structure. The Specific Research areas will probably change before the mod is released, but you can get the general idea of how things flow. I'll post more updates as things progress.
Remember, most of the Specific Research fields aren't revealed right away. You'll likely need to hunt down a copy of MSVBVM50.DLL to use it.

Thanks for the links guys. Writing the AI research files should be no problem. It's testing and tweaking them that's the tedious part.
