What is really strange in impossible, are the alliances the AI's form against you. I frequently wage deffensive wars against three or more AI's. They are restless, and always seem to know when your main army is far from home...

THere was a bug that made all 'recall god' after the first instant. I think it is fixed. At least in 3.09 (next patch). Applies to you as well, but perhaps you are more prudent and don't lose your pretender http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

When I play in Normal difficulty the AI can recall their Gods Every other turn.... They attack with their god every other turn even if its killed.

Well, in impossible, the AI normally has a lot more troops than you (because they get more gold and ressources in the first place, and spend them like water on crappy troops). At which point, using their special power to know just how many troops YOU have (which is not so special, you can do the same by watching the Army Size graph), they decide that you are an easy target, and declare war. So it's not that the AI deliberately gang up on you, it's just that they all independantly decide that you are the weak link and it is time to kick you out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
You can prevent it by finding a way to match their troop number. If you can stay at their level (or better yet above), they'll mostly leave you alone. Of course, that probably means taking Order 3 and keeping a few hundred chaff at your capital doing nothing, but it does work.

thanks Kristoffer, I am pretty sure that bug has not been fixed as of 3.08. I had no idea it was even on your radar.

IIRC JK told me there was such a bug, but when I spoke to him the other day he was surprised and didn't seem to have any recollection of either the bug or a fix, so I might have dreamed. Ftaghn!

The Call God does not work straight away for human players. You after Call God with 40 priest levels or whatever it is as normal.

Not sure if its bugged as far as the AI is concerned.

If you have large armies guarding all your borders, that is usually enough to keep them from attacking you. As far as I can tell the enemy will declare war on you only if they think they can take a province by doing so. So if you play on maps with lots of mountains you can use that to your advantage and keep the peace with a smaller army.
