Re: World in Conflict/Red Dawn themed Scenarios

Here's an idea:

Modern day. Invasion of the USA by the PRC. They are the only ones who have the manpower to pull it off. The only problem is force projection. I.e. How would they get past the Navy?

I have a few possibilities thought out. Most involve clandestine means of placing a force within the US. So not plausible IRL, but an interesting thought experiment.

It would be interesting to do a few scenarios for fun though.

Sounds like fun, maybe a bit overdone in the last , what, 20 years? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Put that 10 years in the future or more, to allow some room for PLAF/PLAN force projection buildup. Clandestine actions in the first phases sound perfectly normal in such a case, just not exactly the scope of this game.
If you feel like coming up with a campaign, I'd like to see that!

Ignoring the "little" problem with getting past the US Navy I don't think the PRC has the sealift to get a sizable force to the US.
Sure, you can load infantry and light artillery on just about anything that floats. But tanks and APC's are a whole different story.
Just look at how many ships were involved in Iwo Jima or D-Day just to land 3-5 divisions.

AFAIK, there's three things the PLAN lacks for such long-range power projection: long range air superiority, seafaring troops carriers/LHDs/LSDs and blue-water logistics (underway replenishment). Loading things on barges isn't enough if they aren't unable to cross the Pacific.
That's what they are apparently busying themselves at, and why I said that before at least 10 years, there's no chance they get them.
Going on a tangent here, there should be number of macropolitics/economics what-ifs that could lead to a possible China-invades-CONUS... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

China doing what Japan did before and in WW2 seems more plausible. They'd need to learn to walk before they could run.

IMO the second one needs a little bit of polish.

How about NATO invading USSR to take down the red empire once and for all? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif (and Kursk again once more? Tactical Nuke on NATO spearhead near Moscow?)

Or communists driving into Japan and Korea to... say, debase the US Pacific fleet?

Just my 2 cents
