My spartan skills are a bit limited, but I've never heard anyone calling them a democracy before.

I would have placed Rome as a middle ground between Athen and Sparta, but I might be wrong.

Sparta was an oligarchy that had democratic elements in it. I think they had an elected king that was voted on by the elders of some number of families or something.

Having a true democracy implies everyone bothers about politics, so, reality being what it is, I guess we can
call the spartan system democratric. Or any system.
