Some Earth buff, and even a E9 buff worked really well for me in single player. It applies to your sacred, with the extra armor they are really hard to hit and they never get tired. It also makes most all your best mages totally mean machines for casting.

In melee the Tuathas are better then the Sidhe warriors, even unblessed and not considering the sacred maintenance. Testing in each in four engagements of 600g versus 2400g of Type 40 HI yielded 24+13+14+22=73 kills versus 8+9+18+7=42. Spells and arrows may yield a different conclusion.
