Re: Facebook, anyone?
How would you define social networking type exactly? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
As for myself, I don't really see the point of mixing my Dom 3 with my social networking. Maybe it's just too geeky to admit. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I might join a separate site just for gamer stuff though, but what the current setup is okay with me. If anything, I'm more interested in expanding the wiki than in joining a social network. Maybe this is just the nature of Dom 3. |
Re: Facebook, anyone?
Well, we all have our own opinions, and I appreciate you all who have voiced yours. Your points are taken into consideration, and I want you to know I appreciate your reading and considering my post.

Even if, in my humble opinion (since I'm not working in advertising or anything), the ones that would be most interested in Dominions would be players of board war games, and are tired of moving thousands of tiny figures every move. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: Facebook, anyone?
I like Facebook. I appreciate that it represents Commercial Evil, but I also find it enormously helpful day to day. I think that's because I'm still at university, and every single person here is on it, pretty much. That means if I meet someone and get their surname off them (or even just know the name of one of their friends), I can look them up when I get home and then be able to contact them in future.
However, I don't feel a particular desperation to join a Shrapnel group on Facebook. I evangelize the game plenty in real life, but somehow I don't see any of my friends getting into Dominions via my Facebook page. |

Facebook = evil

Re: Facebook, anyone?
Personally, I'm just too old for Facebook. It is a very age specific phenomenon that is hugely popular with people that are probably a little younger than the average Dom 3 player. 99% of college kids I know use it, and almost no one older than ~26 that I know uses it. So Annette, I say go for it and don't listen to these old codgers. Oh, and please get off my lawn you damn kids.

Re: Facebook, anyone?
I doubt you're too old. More likely you don't care much about fashion and/or latest fads. Many people will pursue latests fads if they perceive them as means to becoming popular. Social networking sites are primarily about showing off and smile police. I like last.fm because 1) it respects my privacy 2) it has a clearly defined goal. It's focused on discovering music.

Re: Facebook, anyone?
I don't think existing members on this forum should join the facebook unless they already own an account on facebook since your information is sold. I don't use or ever plan on using facebook, but this advertising might bring us a few new members. |
