One boosts natural protection and one boosts armor protection, so they should stack, but not by simple addition.

Just cast army of gold, you wont miss your troops, it works on maenad, and in addition it protects you from fire http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif (and pans love to cast that spell)
