I've used the simulator in SEV maybe twice, ever, because I found the simulator in SEIV to be such a poor predictor of actual combat results. |
Re: Strategy Order
All my games on the go now are early, so have not actually witnessed this in game combat. Never took a close look at the strategy options before. I don’t want to change the launching units in the “Optimal Firing Range” strategy in game, when it appears to control all other strategies in the combat simulator. Could be quite a loss if some of my carrier ships did not launch in combat, when it is only planets that I want not to launch. I could do a mock game playing both sides and see what happens.

Re: Strategy Order
I made a mock simultaneous game with two empires. I controlled both. It looks like in actual game combat that if you set the planets strategy to OFR and FALSE for launching units in combat, ships and task forces with fighter will launch if under a different strategy then OFR. Not what happens in combat sym.
Fighters on planet will not launch in space combat and will murder troops in ground combat, exactly what I wanted. I noticed in the sym that if you have fighters on ships that are ordered to capture planet, the fighter don’t launch. In game combat the fighters launch but run to the edge. Also in sym troops will not drop until planet defensive are down. In game they drop to planet once they get close enough. Caius |
Re: Strategy Order
Could you please report that to MM if not done already?

Re: Strategy Order
I did when I first found it in the sym. But I will let him know what I have found out since then.
