Awake pretender gets you off to a fast start-that is it. An imprisoned pretender and blessed troops also get you off to a fast start.

On a 300 province map, I think diplomacy is just as important early on as rapid expansion. In fact, too rapid expansion in a mp game could lead to a fast exit as you are a candidate for the dog pile.

I think LA Ermor stats should be thrown right out though - not really statistically relevant, since the nation is designed to require an Awake pretender, and has such a built in predisposition towards victory. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yea, I agree totally. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

It was before the Ermor population nerf as well. It was the sickest, most powerful nation I have played in Dom3.

Agree totally with this as well!

Been dog piled so many times playing a bless nation I have lost count and all because I had the cheek to grab 20%+ of the surface land area! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Funny thing is they would have (usually) been better dog piling the quiet guy with long term NAP's, researching, forging clams, fever fetishes and/or blood stones. As well as summoning every SC chassis available and/or developing master enslave/wish/arcane nexus etc... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

All 4 MP games I managed to win (or was declared winner - long story) were with awake pretenders. 2 PoD's with MA C'tis and Arga Dis, 1 Wyrm with LA R'lyeh, and a rainbow enchantress with minor F/W bless for Helheim.

Of course, I don't know how statistically relevant this is as I have very, very rarely played games with a heavy bless yet, (9/8 and 9/6/4 each on one occasion) so one of the main reasons for imprisoned gods went right out of the window.

I think that an awakened god will win often for some people, and rarely for others. Its like many things in this game. You have to go with whatever nation, god, strategy, etc that fits your style of play. Dont strain too hard to push yourself into another mold.

Some people play their god as a Super Combatant and do it very well. Others do better putting the points into scales and dominion. Others into more magic. Obviously its possible to win with any of those. Its no use worrying about why it doesnt work for you. Find what does work for you and use it. But if something doesnt work for you, Id advise you to not write it off completely. You can get caught off guard by that when someone else can make it work for their style of play.

Re: How often does an awakened god win?

In my 5 mp wins i used

3 awake pretenders - 2 cyclops with LA marignon and 1 Lich Queen with LA ermor
2 imprissoned - 1 Lich Queen with MA ermor and 1 Arch Mage with EA helheim (heavy bless)

Somehow i rarly use sleeping pretenders even with the good point efficiency. Maybe because i like the awe SC pretenders early in the game and otherwise i like it to have some more points for better scales/bless. But i think its really good balanced and i'm sure i'll use sleeping pretenders next time.
