I think (and I could well be wrong here) that non-commanders with old age get the stat penalties but don't get the annual check for disease.

Sure they do.

Re: Twiceborn Globals

In a multiplayer game I am playing, I had taken over the home province of the enemy a few turns ago. This turn I killed his mage which had cast 2 globals and had also cast twiceborn. Checking the global enchantment screen shows the globals are still up!!

I'm not sure about the mechanics of twiceborn, the manual says the mage returns to its home province as a wight mage. I assume that since I have his home capital and that I got items off the dead mage that it is in fact dead and will not return as a wight mage; that the globals still being up is a bug.

Yes, it is. It's much the same as a nation being dominion killed and its globals stay up.

That could be useful for team games, I think. Put up a global, then get the caster enslaved. Keep them in a castle, and they'd be immune to assassinations, old age etc.

Since when are normal units immune to old age? :/

You'd get the items in any case. Returning takes aways the unit before it is killed, but twiceborn and immortals drop their items in combat like usual if they are being "killed". They just cheat Death afterwards.

I'd check and see if he did show up anywhere as a wight-mage, but I went AI that turn.

But my take is that the fact that my globals stay up even after my demise simply shows the righteousness of my cause :)

(I guess the other players wouldn't worry all that much if it was just gem generators. The Burden of Time, on the other hand...)
