I'd like to know if Grigorius the Grigori it is a bug or a wad, even if the game was almost finished the vanished sc was very strong and this is an important issue to know.

PS: Is GtG a real in-game unit?

Units turning into Grigorius is probably a bug rather than WAD.

He is a real in-game unit, although you'll only ever see him by Wishing for a Grigori.

Yes, it's a bug. A very rare bug that nobody has managed to make consistently reproducible. Before there was a Grigorius the Grigori, there was Old Centurion, a legacy unit from Dom1 that has not been used even in Dom2. So to prevent wishing for the Hinnomite Grigori, Grigorius was added. Before that particular patch, some units sometimes turned into Old Centurions and vanished.

Though if there is some sort of flavor text, it might even be the warped sense of humor Illwinter has sometimes demonstrated. But I doubt it.

Grigorius the Grigori exists to prevent anyone wishing for the Hinnom national summons, who are also called Grigori. Because Wish gives you the first creature of that wished-for type that it finds, and Grigorius the Grigori is unit number 1, anyone wishing for a Grigori will get Grigorius instead of the ultra-buff angel-demon game-breaker he thought he'd get.

There's a rare, unrelated bug that resets a commander's unit type to unit type 1. This used to be an orange-shielded (i.e. old graphics from an earlier version) Legionnaire or Standard Bearer of Pythium. Grigorious the Grigori's description refers to him appearing and disappearing at his choice, so now this old bug has become more confusing.

I am not sure I see the rationale, because I don't think a Grigori is THAT much more powerful than other elite SC wishables like the Seraph, the Chayot, and some of the four-armed Hindu freaks :)
