Re: why do routing troops charge the enemy?

Its a relatively recent change. Previous to this new routine your troops did retreat away from the enemy. You are correct, obviously panicked troops want to put more distance between themselves and their tormentors rather than get closer. With the new routine troops are ignoring the enemy to escape the terrain rather than ignoring the terrain when trying to escape the enemy. Could we go back to the good old days? Best Regards Chuck. |
Re: why do routing troops charge the enemy?
Hi Andy
I think your basic premise is wrong. Quote:
The router will choose the quickest path away form the enemy, and ignore the quickest path to the baseline. Quote:
Also in reality they are very likely to seek some sort of cover, forest or rough hexes, the exact opposite result to what your 'route code' does. ie you should -ignore- MP when calculating the path. As the flying Iguana says setting rally points is too cumbersome to be a good solution. So... Low grade troops (which I play a lot) can be routed by one turn of 81mm mortar fire, The added inconvienience of your new "route routine" where they are just as likely to close with the enemy as run away from him is making it very difficult to play low morale nations, who route a lot. If it aint broke dont fix it. Chuck. |
