Bogarus also gets Astral, so Rings of Sorcery should help. In addition, there are three Blood boosters item that only take blood: Blood Athame, Brazen Vessel and Armor of Souls. Even a normal B2 Staret with those four can cast up to B6 spells, and you can give those items to any uniques you get.

Besides, empowering in Blood is much easier than empowering in other paths, because it's so much easier to get high Blood income. Just remember to empower a Staret and not a Fivefold Angel, because Starets can use Dwarven Hammers when forging boosters.

I dont think its a good idea to start Bogarus without water on your pretender. Water path is needed for 1) boots of quickness 2) clam of pearls, and you have a national summon, Vodyanoi, who comes with W3N1. Quite a bargain.
And yep, Bogarus can bloodhunt quite efficiently. Much better than, say, Vanheim, slightly worse than Mictlan.

P.S.
Starets is a singular form, not plural. :)

Water on your pretender is a waste. You have a nation hero that comes with water, and it's much easier to get into blood stone hording than it is it get into clamming with bogarus seeing as they have neither natural nor water naturally, but they do have blood and earth naturally.

As we're a bit on topic (or we were some lines ago) I'd like to say that if the "Thunder Fist" was AoE 1 it would be awesome both thematically and in game mechanics IMHO :p Can you imagine this titan of the clouds, punch the earth and 3 or 4 men fall at once strucked by a lightning wave? ;)

Rusalkas are pretty spiffy actually, they open up W for a 6-gem investment, though it really depends on pretender chassis in terms of being worth taking W

But then you need to have Construction 6 to forge them a water bracelet before they do anything useful. I think you also need access to a water province to summon them into.

I'm not saying it's terrible, but I don't see the use. You'll get around to it eventually if you just wait for the random hero to show up.

I think Rusalka can be summoned on land. But you still need w1d1 to summon them. (they are w1d1 also) The national summons of bogarus seem won't open any new path for it.

Water is a waste? :)
Quicken self and breath of winter for pretender, boots of speed for your golems, clams for an astral nation - I wouldnt call it a waste. Btw, you can have BOTH bloodstones and clams.
Also, there aren't many nature indies in the late age, and Vodyanoi comes with N1.

It's a waste because you have to spend points to get it that you would otherwise be able to spend elsewhere.

Sure D9 is great on your pretender, oh and so is A9 and E9 and B394,498,283, but you have to spend points to get those things. Those buffs are infinitely worse then the air and earth buffs that you get nearly for free with the cyclops. Generally with nonundead SC quickness is just bad because it makes you gain more fatigue per-turn, unless you have a blood thorn, or some other type of fatigue draining attack item.

Also, N1 does not really properly expand you "into nature". You'll need to get a +1 nature stick from a neighbor, and you still can't clam properly because you don't have a N/U guy.
