quote:
That toggle is for ships entering a system; it doesn't apply to the Sentry order.

On the contrary, it does apply to Sentry; I use it to monitor borders all the time. When an enemy ship enters the system, the Sentry order clears. If you try to give a ship the Sentry order while an enemy ship is in the same system, the order clears immediately, same as if the ship was low on supply.

The sentry order *always* clears when an enemy ship enters the system. I have both those toggles turned off in my PBW games, at it works the same as if they were on.

OK, I didn't know that. I hardly ever turn off "clears on enemy", so I never noticed Sentry behaving differently.

Re: What does the \"Sentry\" order do?

The reason I have that turned off is it's annoying to have my scout enter, say, a black hole system, see an enemy, stop, and get sucked in. That and I tend to launch strikes using previous data, which means I KNOW where the enemy planets are, and don't want my ships stopping at the warp point.

What happens if a ship is on sentry duty in a nebulae system and therefore can't see an enemy ship entering the system ?? Does it still clear it's orders ???

Re: What does the \"Sentry\" order do?

99% sure that it won't (applies to cloaked ships as well).

Your right Phonix.

It will not notice the ship and stay on sentry.
