Re: Arcane bolt query

But Arcane Bolt is armor-negating too, and according to this thread it does seem to be blocked by shield parry.

Evil. :) This is why SCs should be used in pairs.

Does Lightning Bolt have in-flight animation, or does lightning just strike the target? It COULD be that there's an exception for things like Mind Burn and horrors' ranged attacks.

Electric attacks are special case anyway, since they've got that "grounding" effect. I.e. if there's a target in the square that is hit there is no chance to hit "empty space" like with other projectiles.

The unit doesn't have any reinvigoration gear and doesn't have any reactive effects, like the medusa effect or fire shield. It shouldn't even have fear. You could just land several stellar cascades and send in a squad moral 10 regulars and win with ease.

Atul,

According to the manual, there is no chance to hit "empty space" anyway. At least one target will be selected, and the to-hit opposed roll will then take place. It is true that the to-hit roll takes into account how crowded the square is; maybe that's what you're thinking of? That's not separate from lightning bypassing the shield parry, though, because crowdedness, fatigue, and shield parry are all modifiers to the same contest.
