Re: Help Me Kit Out Jomon
A sign is aoe airshield, F sign is a very short rage charm, earth sign is very low range soul slay. Making an Owhatever your prophet is great cuz then you have a communion master who can cast those buffs.

Ah, that clears it up. Thanks!

Re: Help Me Kit Out Jomon
Try a bear's claw on the assassin as well.
I forget if berserker pelt also worked. |
Re: Help Me Kit Out Jomon
I think Nature sign is PotS, and Water sign is reinvig, not the other way round.

Re: Help Me Kit Out Jomon
You don't need signs. The astral mages are vastly superior in battle. You can tamper with signs if you're desperate. I was working on a Jomon guide somewhere along the line ... but my belief is that Jomon is currently a pseudo water nation. Their power fluctuates extremely on whether they get ryujin's or not. Samurai archers are not useless. However, they are a trap early on. Also it depends on whether you're playing CBM or not.

Not only are they exceptionally hard to mass (even in vanilla), which is pretty critical for archers, they're also longbows in LA, where everyone has like protection ~17 on their front line. Jomon can cast flaming arrows, but then you'd rather have easily massed indie archers instead of resource expensive samurai archers, even if they do have shortbows. |

The problems with samurai archers in a dual roll are two fold. On the one hand, the katana samurai that they default to isn't very good either, so they aren't a good melee option. On the other hand, expected opposition in LA is going to laugh at longbows. Compared to dai-bakemono archers in MA, who are good, the dai bakemono benefit from having actually good stats *and* weaker armor on the opposition against which the longbow is relatively better. |
Re: Help Me Kit Out Jomon
The katana isn't a horrible weapon. And the armor has decent protection. The typical samurai archer deployment often sees them shooting down the morale of the group that moves in and cutting them down enough to rout. At least that's been my experience. Plus they can swap easily to any arrow buffs once you get them instead of grabbing indie archers from all over the place.
