Re: Swiss OOB
Some news from the Swiss Army. For the next few years it is planned to buy three new shoulder launched AT weapons. (Introduction 2017-2019)
Heat and Hesh RGW 90 HH (300m) Next Generation Light Anti-Tank Weapon NLAW (800m) Light Anti-Armor Weapon M72 LAW Mk2 (200m) Does anyone know, if they are modelled in the game allready, so I could copy them over to the Swiss oob? The closest I found is in the British oob, the NLAW, but the range looks different. They have 12(=600m), the Swiss page states 800m (=16) - and thats NOT the Maximum distance. source http://www.vbs.admin.ch/internet/vbs...n/ab16/rp.html also interesting new Patrolboat and 12cm Mortar System (for Pirhana 8x8) |

It has higher penetration and range (35/7 compare to 30/4) any idea what "model" that is? |
Re: Swiss OOB
I wish they were all this easy! The ADF uses the 4. M72 LAW (66MM M72A6 LDSFW). If you would like to use one, the ref below will make it possible well, probably not really however, it's listed under the "JOB DETAILS" section.
http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/army/j...mouredCavalry/ The bonus in this ref is it gives use their specific and current armored vehicles. Loved the ADF actually had a military POC @ MOD that helped sort out many issues concerning armored formations, info on the LEOPARD retirement/status when they received their "new" M1A1 tanks and more. They were most helpful and I'm very grateful for their assistance as we were starting to run into roadblocks concerning "good" data. I think this was about four years ago. We made many fixes off the emails sent back to me which I believe I posted in here at the time or in the ADF Thread. Still have them in my box because you just never know!?! ;) Time to chill out!! A brief overview of the LAW for us "dummies"...
http://world.guns.ru/grenade/usa/m72-law-e.html http://www.inetres.com/gp/military/i...armor/M72.html http://www.smallarmssurvey.org/filea...ers-M72LAW.pdf http://www.militaryfactory.com/small...mallarms_id=72 http://www.trngcmd.marines.mil/Porta...%20Weapons.pdf The later models ranged out to about 350-500 meters effectively from the I believe from the A4 on. Hey you can get hurt from them things! Bet it'd cook a hot dog reeeal quick though!?! And of course the last is for my "spook" friend from that other service. :D Regards, Pat :capt: |
Re: Swiss OOB
The M72 LAAW and M136 AT-4 are entirely different animals in spite of their many similarities.
The M72 is still used because it's cheap and pretty darn effective vs things like machinegun nests and lightly/unarmored vehicles, the US doesn't use the RPG-7 (tho the USMC uses the SMAW) so needs something to fulfill that particular role. It's slightly lighter and less expensive then the AT-4 which tends to be somewhat more of a "real" anti-tank weapon and has much better sights (in fact the most recent variant has rails so you can mount a telescopic, red-dot, or night-vision sight). Besides, there are still thousands of M72s still in stock, may as well use them! |
