Re: Move Take Back

I have gotten into the habit of saving every move after the first move following deployment, mainly because of the accidental move or the wrong key press. Saves frustration but really, any accidental or unplanned moves could be construed as the "fog of war" and mistakes do happen. Occasionally I have forgotten to move a unit, or not checked my artillery and this has cost me dearly. I have lost battles because of a miss click and it is almost as if my troops are ignoring my orders and doing their own thing. So much for the best laid plans of mice and men!!

Assume you meant every turn.
No need the game saves that automatically
This is a useful feature from time to time such as when your game has been interrupted by real life & you have a brain fade moment upon returning.

Not just at every turn, but at the end of each phase of the battle. For example, I may be advancing on two axes, one a feint, the other real but as yet unseen by the AI. I will move one group, save, then move the other. I use two save slots only, one which has the name of the battle, and another the next save slot below which I call "see above". I can save in "see above" as often as I want during a turn and this avoids the frustration of having to start a turn from the beginning if I miss click or hit the "A" button by mistake, for example. I only have to repeat a particular phase rather than a full turn. I suppose that this only matters in larger battles where there are lots of units on large maps, but I find it a great time saver.

I never thought about doing saves for such occasions...

If I miss click or something I simply accept it as "such things happen in war".

I remember an aerial photo, I believe in Morison's The Two Ocean War, of a naval task force performing an evasive turn . . . except for one ship.

Sometimes, someone doesn't get the word.
