Re: War-related phrases ingame
Yes Sir, Corporal Sir! Exactly in this way I will do that. In a few months, my wayward son will not be able to escape the manual. I am also pleased to learn a far better english as the one i learned in school by this task.
Posting phrases is a good idea, will do that when the time is right. Changing them to correct expressions will be no challenge at all. For today, my exercise will be to look in these HTML things of which i have no clue. Manipulating the Manual this way, seems to have many advantages. 2 or 3 days ago i started changing a PDF, that is wasdted time i suppose. wasted. Have a nice sunday all of you, bye |

Re: War-related phrases ingame
So far, these are the Phrases i'm a bit unsure of. That is not i could not suck something out of my fingers, but it would be kind if any War-Pro German could give me a direction.
Shotgun V-Hex CHQ Link discarding sabot penetrators CMG Context: Let's assume you wish to fire only your CMG at the crew. Tank Platoon AFVs Plotting context: Plotting your level bomber beaten zone context: the ability to create a "beaten zone" of area fire out of their own bump context: If a unit is at zero height directly behind a 4 high "bump" that is three hexes long pointed context: They also will be 'pointed' more, losing a 120 experience veteran tank to the AI will give it more 'kill' victory points than a similar tank of 70 experience points. bereft context: even if granted air strikes now, but at a lower rate than when it is bereft of supporting air. Dragons Teeth lump context: advancing Polish lump(s) baddie Tanks context: just hide if there are any baddie tanks about till the P3s deal with them LHS Info Panel what does LHS stands for? Thanks for the kompozer idea, will look at it. These HTML things... i overlooked it, hmmm ..., strg-c strg-v and changing english to german, which i first thought was a easy going, seems a bit uncomfortable. The textpassages are not, not fluid? They are not in one "easy to editable" format. So i thought it might be better to write the whole text in one, one slip? (from the beginning to the end) and then insert all the links and pictures. This way, i would spare a lot of time and we would have multiple clean formats. HTML, PDF etc. And of course it would look the same as now. Nearly the same, cause some passages would be longer or shorter throughout translation. |

Re: War-related phrases ingame
I can't help with the German I'm afraid but can give some "English Translations" which may help a little:
Shotgun V-Hex Victory Hexes "scattered" about as if fired from a shotgun as opposed to in a seven hex group CHQ Link Radio connection (link) to higher level headquarters discarding sabot penetrators Modern Armour Piercing ammunition - a metal (Tungsten in wwii) "dart" smaller in diameter than the barrel of the gun fitted with a surrounding case (sabot) which falls away when the projectile leaves the gun increasing the momentum of the penetrating dart (penetrator) CMG Casement or Co-Axial Machine Gun - a gun mounted in the turret of a tank alongside the main gun and (usually) aimed with it Tank Platoon - panzerkampfwagen Zug :) (or just Panzer these days?) AFVs Armoured Fighting Vehicles. Tanks, etc Plotting marking where you want the bomber to target beaten zone context: the ability to create a "beaten zone" of area fire out of their own bump small hill / hillock pointed have a higher point value bereft without Dragons Teeth concrete blocks to stop vehicle access - "tank traps" baddie slang for bad person /enemy LHS Left Hand Side (panel on the left of the screen) Edit: Sorry beaten to it by a much more helpful post |

Re: War-related phrases ingame
Beaten Zone. This is mostly applied to machine guns. When you fire bursts of machine gun fire at a target you have bullets that will hit the target, go past the target, fall short of the target and to some extent some will go left and right. This area is the beaten zone. This gives machine gun/automatic burst type weapons a little bit of an area effect to hit or suppress multiple targets.
In the game this is simulated by having machine gun fire into a hex sometimes (randomly) giving suppression points into adjacent hexes. |
