Re: New GOLD game of paranoia over at PBW
If you don't know who your target empire is, and someone else inadvertantly destroys that empire for you, do you win anyhow?

Re: New GOLD game of paranoia over at PBW
Personally, I think the victory conditions should be the first empire to be destroyed by it's designated "hunter" empire, not just the first empire to die. Too bad I don't have time to put another game on my schedule, this sounds like fun!

Re: New GOLD game of paranoia over at PBW
You would have to add a rule saying that if you killed off a race that was NOT your target, you die, and the player hunting you wins.
Otherwise, if someone else kills off your prey, there is no way for you to win anymore. |

What is up for discussion is whether all the *other* players will know everyone else's targets so everyone knows who is after whom. Right now the voting in the game forum is leaning towards keeping this information private. My thinking was that the game is over once the first empire dies. If someone else kills your target then you win. If you kill your target then you win. The moral of this is do not go around killing all the other empires that stand between you and your target or you will inadvertantly give someone else the win. |

In fact, the more non-targets you kill, the better your chances of winning. And also as you assign the targets from the dead empires, you end up with the very likely scenario of someone eventually ending up with themselves as their target. What then? |

No permanent alliances? No full co-operation? Backstabbing? I like it. Askan PS. What would be even more nasty would be no trades of anything at all. That way if one of the non-targets is about to die your gonna have to come with direct military aide, not hiding a moon somewhere in your vast expanse.

That's a good idea. I haven't made a game in a while. I do not remember if there is an option to turn off ALL TRADING. Or at least trading of planets. It might require the honor system to enforce. In any case I will put it to the vote in the game forum whether people want to disallow gifting/trading of planets. |

I suppose we better call it over the turn an empire owns no more colonies so it does not turn into a frustrating hunt for the Last mine. Of course, there is no way to determine this when we cannot see each others scores...Any ideas?
quote:
Edit: Oh, and are planet gifts going to be allowed, so if race Z is about to bite it, other players can donate more planets to them?

I put it to the vote in the game forum... Re: New GOLD game of paranoia over at PBW
I doubt anyone would try to pull a cheesy stunt like saying they were still in the game, even though all they had was some mines and sats laying around. But if you suspect it you can always have someone check it for you.

Re: New GOLD game of paranoia over at PBW
I just wanted to know what the rule would be for this game. I don't think anyone will lie about having been wiped out, but the definition of being dead could be many different things, especially if trading of planets (or even colony ships with population) is allowed.
It could be any combination of: You must have population under your control. You must have population of your original type under your control. You must have a ship under your control. You must have a (populated?) colony under your control. PvK |
