Well, it looks like your other questions have been pretty much answered http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif As for this one, it is confusing when adding opponents. Most people just pick the "Quick Start" option. If you add specific opponents, there is really a two-step process necessary to ensure that the race uses all of its bonus research points in the beginning. Bear with me as I am at work and may not be citing the correct buttons, but you first have to "Add Opponent" and then go and "Edit Opponent" for each computer player. When you edit them, you want to be sure to select "Computer Control" and "Use Racestyle" option. Hope this helps. -TG

One of the items on my wish list for any future Versions is for Quick Start to use the same settings as the Last game created.

Re: Mods...

I loathe quick start.

I tend to add the various modded races that I have found to be the most challenging high difficulty high bonus no tactical combat. Somtimes I disable stellar manip sometimes not... just depends on whether I want to be amused by the haphazard way the computer seems to use it.

Really adding 19 races and setting each one to computer play isn't that hard... a little time consuming maybe but it is worth a little extra time for a great game.

One of my favorite features in the Gold Version. In the setting.txt file.
quote:
Minimum Computer Player High Setting := 6
Maximum Computer Player High Setting := 10

Bump those numbers up and you random start games have all the players you want. All you have to add is your own empire.

D'oh... *THAT* is what the setting is for...

Hm. Can you set the minimum and maximum numbers to be the same so that the game always has the same number of players to fight against you?

Exactly! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

And if you set the low and medium start numbers up there, it should work for quick start games too, if you are so inclined.
