Re: SE IV Holy Grail

Same thing happened to me when I decided to use the first 10 game turns to emergency build BSYs over each of my homeworlds (5 planet start). I also had my BSYs build more BSYs at emergency build (3 turns/base). At around, oh, 75 or so bases and turn 11, I made my first contact, and promptly found myself at war with the galaxy. Not a good start. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: SE IV Holy Grail

In a non-Proportions game, the fully populated Shpere World is something of a farce. IIRC, there was no bonus to production for populations over 10B, for this reason, the best possible bonus was the same for both Sphere World and Ring World.

Why pack any more than 10000 units of population on a Sphere World? The slaving masses will do more good in other places...

Anyone make effective (non-"I've already beat you but I'm going to build this first.") use of a Sphere World in a multiplayer game?

Well, messing around I've discovered that if I take out EVERYTHING except for one player world, I get around 2000 turns per minute or 33 turns a second.

So getting up to the theoretical max would take half an hour with F12 held down. I'll try it out tommarrow (err, today, later. 2 AM)

Got back to the testing. Currently at EDIT: YEAR, not turn 9000 with no ill effects.

Side note: my race is still marked as "newborn" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Currently on year 23400.0

I have encountered a bug; the clock only updates every year, instead of every month. Not exactly huge priority, I'd think http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Hmmm, 64K turns? At one minute / turn, playing 12 hours / day, that would give you 89 days of playing time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif Does ANYONE on this forum have that much patience? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

[edit: I forgot to add: This is a good example of why we need a real scenario editor. So you can give an AncientRace AI a sphereworld at the start. See tag line.]
