Re: Collaboration: SciFi and Fantasy character names
Yeah, I've been thinking of a seperate comic characters list. People with weird powers like contemporary superheros seemed like a seperate Category to me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I might not be able to gather enough names to make a decent list without them though. I like to have at least 100 names before putting a list to use.
The Transformers names sound like they'd be suitable for the Borg... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: Collaboration: SciFi and Fantasy character names
Have to chime in with some B5 names http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
John Sheridan Jeffrey Sinclair Susan Ivanova Michael Garibaldi G'Kar Delenn Londo Molari (well not so much a hero, yes?) Vir Mathew Gideon (Crusades capt.) Galen (technomage in Crusades and trilogy) David Martel (Legend of the rangers capt.) |
Re: Collaboration: SciFi and Fantasy character names
Well, since you have Kirk, how about
Jonathan Archer Jean-Luc Picard Benjamin Sisko (aka The Emissary) You know, you could easily get 100 names from Star Trek alone! Maybe you should make a Star Trek name set. Wouldn't it be fun to go into battle against a monster with the "Commodore Decker?" A few other suggestions: Ged (Earthsea books by Ursula K. Le Guin) Paul Atreides (Dune) Commander Adama (Battlestar Galactica) Dr. Who Dr. Frankenstein Dr. Jekyll Dave Bowman (2001: A Space Odyssey) H.A.L. (good for ships with MCs) Capt. Nemo The Time Traveler (hero of The Time Machine, by Wells; a lousy name but the only one Wells gives; maybe the movie gives him a name?) Commander John Koenig (Moonbase Alpha) And my all-time Favorites: (drum roll, please) Page Down . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Wesley Crusher and Jar-jar Binks! This link might help you.
http://www.whataslacker.com/scifi/html/gp3.shtml BTW, does anyone know the name of the TV series that involved a gihugic space ship that was sort of an ark, but most of the people on board no longer knew they were on a space ship, and it was on a collision course with something, and the heros were trying to make their way to the secondary bridge, each week encountering a different culture that had developed in a different section of the space ark? (How's that for a run-on?) Or the name of the series that had aliens attacking Earth, and the humans had a moonbase and undersea bases and ships that flew in space, in air, and under water? Both of these were on US TV in the 1960's. [ May 31, 2002, 18:11: Message edited by: dmm ] |

Geo:
Boy, add Space: 1999 and the Buck Rogers revival and you've got all the 'bad 70s hair' SciFi shows... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Even if UFO was made in the late 60s they've got those 70s hairstyles... I had almost completely forgotten Starlost. I only had a vague memory of some strange series on PBS that I thought was called "Ark II" but maybe that was what they named it when it was broadcast in the US? |
Re: Collaboration: SciFi and Fantasy character names
Possibly. Both of them are really before my time. I did have a vague recolection of the interceptor ship on the UFO series. I think I may have had one as a kid. But I don't remember the show at all.
Funny you mention Space 1999, cause according to the UFO website they were cancelled because te production company wanted to move on to doing that one instead. Apparently they are by the same people. Geoschmo |
