A question remains:

If using a ship to mine with and you set it to SENTRY - will it still mine?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, it will still mine. I do this all the time. If they didn't I'd get sick and tired of having to skip ships that are mining.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Or perhaps the ships could be large flying bagettes, blocks of Brie... perhaps a bottle of Chateau Bergoise http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

For starters, I think remote miming would be a great addition to the game... consider it an intelligence attack; thousands of elite attack-mimes decend from invisible staircases into the midst of an unsuspecting population, and begin their soundless campaign of 'mind-numbing' against the hapless citizens. Uncertain as to what to make of the chalk-faced denizens of uber-droldom, the population stares in stunned silence as the mimes unexpectedly run into invisible walls, get trapped in invisible shrinking boxes, and rise and fall on invisible escalators (Edit - and in Mexico city, direct traffic). The population, utterly mesmerized by these feats of incredible irrelevance cease to tend to their lives, resulting in production loss, maintenance failures, research blunders and eventually mass die-offs as untended crops are left unharvested (Edit - and car accidents in Mexico city)...
... perhaps Remote Miming should be it's own racial tech tree http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">We've already got remote miming! It's in the combat module, where ships will bang against the 'invisible wall' rather than maneuver intelligently. I'd rather see remote miming removed and replaced with a real retreat option.

(Elowan says)
What are the best (reccomended) vechicles for remote mining? Ship, base, or satellite?.

HEMAN Answer; large ships /base with LOW maintance. Also Specially do mining on planets with moons at the same Location. NOTE; Also try downloading some of the MODES out there, some have even added more / special ship sizes for mining in mind.
