Tesco, proportions game against AI with bonuses may be a very long afair !

Steveh11, What proportions Version do you use ? I am still working on SoulHunters/Pequeninos/Nostropholo AI and would like to hear any input about how do they do in long games with AI bonuses. The very long nature of Proportions games makes it very difficult to judge what should be tweeked to optimize AI for long run. If you (or anybody else) have any interesting savegames, please e-mail me.

Dogscoff, AFAIK 10 turns of grond combat is SE default. We may ask PvK to increase it in Proportions.

Oleg, I'm using Proportions 2.4.2
I [i]would[i] send you my Last saved game, but I got an Integer overflow error, so started again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I'll send you the current saved game as soon as I've finished the current (large) battle http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

There isn't any option in the poll for those of us who don't consistently win. I've finished solo games in as low as 5th place, and I've got at least two going currently where it's not clear I'm even going to survive to see someone fulfill the victory conditions.

At What Point Do You Know You Have Won

At what point in a single player game do you know you have won? For me its alway around Turn 150. By that point the AI stops pressing its limited advantages, and starts becoming weak. I simply demand that they surrender, and they do.

Re: At What Point Do You Know You Have Won

...although I have to say it usually takes me more than 100 turns to colonise half the galaxy. I'm a very slow, cautious player.

I was just saying to someone else in a PM that it is the mechanical nature of mid-late game expansion that means I hardly ever finish a game. That and the fact that frequent patches make my savegames incompatible http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif ...

Anyway, this is another reason I love Proportions- the game speed is slowed down so far as to make it virtually open- ended. It would be really hard to get to the point where the game was "already won".

Not so Dogscoff: In Proportions you've won when you take the second Alien Homeworld - the AI has no way back from there.

Arguably, just taking the first will do.

Proportions is still my favourite Mod, but it's starting to look like a one-strategy game. A different strategy to vanilla SEIV though, which is a good thing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I guess... but I haven't been able to take an enemy homeworld since the very early Versions when the AI was a lot weaker. nowadays they fill up with troops, WPs and defence stations before you can get a troop transport anywhere near them.

Also, I'd be really interested to see someone try to take a Proportions homeworld from a *human* player=-)

I know I have won the game when the Last enemy planet falls before my fleet.
