Early Game:

When not playing racial techs (i dont usually) i always research Mil.Sci and Phys both to level one, and then research the weapons they offer me - APB/Torpedoe combo. Tell me that torpedoes are underpowered, once you got it going (sooner or later you'll hit the level 6 and higher) it becomes a deadly weapon. In mid-game i usually stick to same tactics but begin to vary - i use seekers (swarm!) and begin the use of tachyon cannon (thats one wonder weapon). As things get good i do a astrophysics research and go into gravity weapons. Absolutely love them, when worked out good and paired with torpedoes (set to max range) or SD's (set to short-range) its a killer.
Tractor and repulsers are _the_ weapons, as i would call them. Not doing any damage they can realy swing the combat balance, along with enemy ships. Just keep the kT equal or greater than that of your enemies (or make war carriers) and see them flyyyyyyyyy..... defensive weapon, too. |
