The Orion system was under another system.
Opening wormholes out from the Orion system was no problem in the short test game I ran, neither closing them off from the outside.
I was thinking of maybe having an two-way wormhole from the senate system to the Orion system. Well guarded by a planet on-top of the wormhole in the Senate system and disguised by a small storm.

Re: PBW idea "Rules of Engagement",is there enough interest?

(I'll be hard pressed not to start this game, I really like the idea)
Here are the new rules (Any ideas are welcome):

1. No tech trading (You may gift/trade ships).
2. Max alliances three players.
Never have partnership/military Alliance with more than two other players at the same time.
3. You may at any time challenge the Orions to fight in the Arena.
You decide the number of ships, equal for each side.
You decide from which system your ships shall enter.
The Orions open a wormhole to that system and awaits in the other side of the Arena.
For each Orion ship you destroy you may request a free tech from the Orions, this will be delivered as a gifted ship with the required components.
You may choose to have the location of the Orions system revealed instead of one tech.
4. Winning Conditions:
Alliance victories are allowed, max three players/alliance.
- Annihilate all other races.
- Colonize Orion Prime.
- Win a majority (10 votes) in the senate.
5. The senate is a separate system with 19 voting embassy planets. Each Embassy planet has a one-way wormhole from a homeworld.
The race owning a senate embassy controls it votes.
If a Race is annihilated, the Race claiming that race's Last planet outside the Senate gains the Senate Embassy world (Will be gifted, if dead player resists, host will force the issue).

Any race can at anytime request a vote in the Game forum, 10 votes for a race or Alliance wins the game.

The Orions are Maxed for fighting, starts with all techs in a GOOD system hidden beneath another system.
The orions might explore the universe but will never be hostile, if they fight they will run or loose (except in the Orion system and the Arena System).

So, this game might be over in less than 50 turns if someone sends a large fleet to the Senate system. But the ships can't go home again. Leaving the Home system with lesser defences.
Guard your senate world, altough any maintnance requiring ships/bases there can't be used elsewhere.

-Low tech start.
-High tech cost.
-Tech trade/Gifts off (You may gift/trade ships for increased tech)
-Intel allowed.
-Max 100 mines/sector.
-No omnipresent view.
-Wormhole from home system directly on-top of your senate tiny planet.
-Huge Galaxy (255 systems, 1900+ planets)
-19+1 players (Orion can't win)

Special Systems:
-Orion Home system - Hidden.
-Arena - Empty Fighting Ground.
-Senate - 19 tiny worlds and a Medium Orion watchpost.

As stated - any improvements or critisism is wanted!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What about chained alliances - the Alkari have an alliance with the Bulrathi who have an alliance with the Darloks who have an alliance with the Elerians, while the Gnolams have an alliance with the Humans who have an alliance with the Klackons who have an alliance with the Meklars? (Isn't that pathetic, I can rattle off the MOO2 races like that? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

Oh, and should we stipulate that only races from one of the MOO games are to be used? (It would be interesting to see the Elerians go against the Ithkul http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

edit: now how would we fit the Antarans in without making them too "random-eventy"? ("Oh my homeworld got attacked by Antarans, now I lose http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif ")

Would it be nice if somebody make Moo2 races ? Race portraits at least. Elerians...

I took screen captures of all the leaders and the race portraits a while back. They might be of some minor use here.

How do you take screen captures of MOO2? Whenever I do the colors get all screwed up...

Chained alliances would be allowed, but only three players as a amx can be winners.
You may at any time call for a vote in the senate and then propose 1-3 players as winners.

15 votes in the senate will force the Orion to attack a designated target.
The orions will Never attack a homeworld system or senate system disregarding any senatorial order.

I think it has to do with the video card settings. Or maybe it was because I used a screen capture program that compensated for the DOSness of the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif If you look at the facility pack of the Image Mod, you'll see many familiar buidlings. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
