Re: When Was The Last Time
Atrocities, if you have burn out on SE IV, and are waiting for SE V, you could perhaps find an interest in a game similar in depth, but set in an heroic fantasy settings (not unlike Master of Magic): Dominions. You can grab a demo at Illwinter.com
The graphics are so-so, but I'm sure if you will see the jewel behind the crude stone. I'm spending half of my game time on PBEM dominions, and the remaining half in learning SE IV as of now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: When Was The Last Time
Atrocities,
Thank you for the idea of using playing SEIV as therapy? Would you like the list of system names? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Aloofi and oleg, I've followed Aloofi's Posts here and there. It would be inconsistant for him to belive it the way it was understood. (Chalk it up to lack of tone inflection). < snip Rant about being a step dad > |

Re: When Was The Last Time
Yup, I still stay up all night to play games when I can. Which is usually on the weekends, either Friday night or Saturday night. Then I end up sleeping most of the next day. On occasion, I have done two all nighters in a row. I can't do that during the week because of work. Sometimes, I have done an *almost* all-nighter, where I only get 2 or 3 hours of sleep. I'm still OK for work in the morning, provided that I don't do it twice in a row and I go to bed early that night.
Might as well do those all-nighters while I'm still single. I don't think I'll have any time for games after getting married, so I better enjoy it while I can. |
Re: When Was The Last Time
Last time was August 18-19, 2002. I know the exact date because that's the night I had a 5am flight to leave for college. And there was no way that I was going to sleep early and waking up at 5... so I stayed up playing SEIV. That was also the Last time I played SEIV until Christmas break, and in a few weeks I'll be playing my first game since Christmas break (and probably ordering Gold, finally http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif )
Other than that, there were a few times that I stayed up until about 4am playing. Normally I would play in the afternoon, not at night. |
Re: When Was The Last Time
The Last time I played all night with a game was back playing Empire Deluxe, aahh fond memories, it was on a weekday, and I kept telling myself only one more turn and then bed, however, when the wife came down and had a few joyful words for me and that it was time for me to get ready for work... well, you have to be married to understand how that went over with her http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif So now I try and watch the time and sneak into bed no later then around 3am if i'm playing, but usually she makes sure I pull the plug around 1am now that I'm retired and around 12mid when I was working my full time job http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif aahh well...
just some ideas mac |
Re: When Was The Last Time
I've stayed up all night on many occasions, and many of those were playing computer games, sometimes SEIV. For me, if I get through the couple hours of sleepiness around maybe 20 hours, I will not be tired again until after I have slept. I in fact become somewhat hyper. Having stayed up for two days, it is easy to stay up for 3 (in fact i have to force myself to go to bed) - I have on several occasions pulled 80 hour stretches (doing work tho, not playing games!)
