Re: Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

It might change, but at the moment, I am only reading NGC3 since I am in it, and have been adding a bit of my own story. I can see myself reading some of the others later, but I am swamped following many of the threads I do allready.

The stories that I have read are great

Hum, I hope people don't take this thread the wrong way and give up on their stories. I think any one willing to take the time to write are talented and gracious people. I hope they keep writing.

I have to agree with CNC and sachmo on this point. In retrospect, I should not have posted this pole. I hope no one takes this pole seriously, say for the Last question.

Re: Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

I quess the question now would be how do we get more people to read our stories?

From the looks of it, sachmo story is stomping the rest of us to the ground. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif (It is really a great story. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif )

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to write just to do it. It kinda helps meto relax. The nice comments are welcome, and I am happy that what post people seem to enjoy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I hope that more people will begin to read the awsome stories that are posted on this forum as they are all really good reads and deservent of phrase and attention.

Hell if you put all of our work together I'd bet there would be at least two or three full size hard back books here.

Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

I went back about a month and gathered a list of the story threads that were available. (Forgive me if I missed one or two.)

I thought it would be nice to get a reading, no pun intended, on which stories are read, and by how many people. Give people a chance to rank the stories and comment on them if they wanted to.

Also, I wanted to know if people would like a separate forum, within the Malfador section of the over all Shrapnel Forums for Space Empires Fan Fiction. Remember Star Fury is coming out soon, and with it a whole new arena for those with creative minds to gather material from and write about.

EDIT: I should note that for each of the catagories, say for the Last one, you can mark 2 choices.

I will hold off voting until later today.

Re: Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

I guess the only problem with having a seperate fanfiction forum is would people who are casual readers be bothered to check it every so often. I voted undecided. Would sombody be kind to post their views as a few people have voted yes and some no, so somebody must have ideas why it would be good and bad, helps the "not so sure ones" amongst us http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif (like me)

Re: Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

i think there are both + and - to a seperate fan fiction thread.

+
You might get to read FF from other games.

-
You won't get posters just popping in to see what this is for post and getting caught in the thread, might mean lesser readers and in the end lesser future writers.
if I hadn't read some FF in this thread I would never have written some of my own.

Hey guys, keep up the good work. It’s highly appreciated. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

And keep it here. Easy availability is important.

I hate to say it but I only follow,
"Rise of the Remorhaz Society by: Sachmo "
I just can't keep up. This is a limitation of me, not the authors.

Re: Fan-Fiction - Story Poll

As an author, I have to say that half of the enjoyment of writing is interacting with the readers. Comments are appreciated, because they allow me to think about the story in ways that I may not have seen before. While I write to pratice the craft, and because I love doing it, I also like to know what people think. Every story on this site is unique and wonderful in it own way. I would encourage everyone out there to take the time and sample each one of them, and if the author wishes, comment on the story.
