Re: Robotech Ship Set
Ouch. It is like a computer plague. Let's hope it isnt spreading. I must now go and backup everything. It would be a good idea for everybody to do so. This data loss problem is becoming an epidemic! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Re: Robotech Ship Set
It seems to strike SEIV modders with uncanny regularity. Hugh Manatee lost all his shipsets Last year. The pre-AST mod work done by CPT Kwok suffered the same fate.
I personally suspect it's the work of disgruntled MOO3 programmers... |

Re: Robotech Ship Set
It makes me sick that computer components have slipped so much in quality these days that something like this can happen. I think it was an over temp issue because it just did it again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif >:
I remember back in the day paying $400.00 for a 1 gig hard drive and being blown away by how much storage it had. My God you would never be able to fill a one giger up.... and you know what, that HD still works! Which is more than I can say for the other sixty I have boughten since. |

Re: Robotech Ship Set
Well is any one interested in good news?
Thanks to some help and a lot of time talking to MS support I was able to recover about 40% of my work which was enough to reconstruct all the images. Albeit they are slightly changed. The set is all but finished say for the three base images. I have to admit that I am damn proud of this set and I hope that once it is out many of you will like it as much as I. |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
This is good news indeed! It is about time someone was able to retrieve their data. Take that HD failure! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Also, keep in mind that as devices are designed to work harder, they often Last less time before breaking down. That 1 GB HD does comparably nothing while it is operating to a 100 GB HD. Spins slowly, hardly anything on the disks to read, etc. When you have to keep things the same size, but vastly increase how much they do at once, trouble ensues. It is not all a matter of producers cheaping out, though many do. [ April 18, 2004, 18:08: Message edited by: Imperator Fyron ] |

So what is your next shipset going to be? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Robotech Ship Set
Beautyful set, Atrocities. Especially Heavy Carrier and Large Fighter - great working out in details.
Total score: 5+ of 5. |

Thanks Aiken http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Fyron I don't know. I have tinkered been tinkering with the idea of doing a dedicated B5 Alliance set. Starting with the White Star and working from there. However I haven't been able to find any decent top down, side, front - rear, or profiles shots of a white star that look good enough to base a model on. I also sincerely doubt that I could make a decent enough set even if I tried real hard. To many curves and such. Besides my Last attemp at a B5 ship, the Nimbari (sp) Cruiser was not widely appreciated. (Still have a price on my head for that one.) |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
Why don't you try one of the se3 shipsets?
It's really fun to make portraits for nice and interesting existing minis. |

Fyron why are you waving your hand infront of my face, what do you think you are some jedi or something. I am an Atrocian, mind trick will not work on me. The only thing that does is credits, and not that funny money from Canada or Europe either, real money, American money. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |

Tss... good money... Oh yeah, cool shipset. It's already populating my HD. Hope you are willing to make more B5 shipsets. Would be very cool. But I hope I have the honour of making the Ancients. If I find the time for it. I have the perfect grafical templates for those. A rocky hull for the Kirishiac Lords. [ April 20, 2004, 10:23: Message edited by: Timstone ] |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
I don't know if I am or not going to make a set for B5. Remember Last time I tried, I was beaten, tacked to a cross, and when I slipped off, beaten again and restuck to the cross with a sign around my neck that read, and I quote "I Defiled The Blessed B5."
I am fearful that if I attempt a second time they will gut me with a church key and leave me to rot in the mid day sun. No sir, I would need much protection if I were to attempt a second B5 set. (And the death threats roll in.) |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
Fear not AT, I'll protect you agianst the foul creatures who hung you Last time!
If they want to get you, they will have to go through me. I'm armed with a timetraveling gearbox and a ferocious poodle. Hope that does the trick. |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
Thanks.
If you still want to download or view the set just click the NASY (New Age Ship Yards) link in my signature and at the top of the page look for the Zentraedi (RoboTech) link. Enjoy. |
Re: Robotech Ship Set
Double what Timstone said: They'll have to go through me to get to you first. Your graphics work is one heck of a lot better than mine. I gringe if some B5 fanboy sees my Brakiri shipset... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: Robotech Ship Set
I will see what I can come up with for Alliance ships. Most assuredly it won't be cannon.

Re: Robotech Ship Set
Note the term "hyperactive" in front of fanboy. It makes all the difference. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Regular fanboys- those that do not set out to ruin other people's lives just because some trivial detail that only they care about is not 100% their Version of canon- are just fine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Robotech Ship Set
This is just a generalization and is not intended to offend or otherwise insult any member of this forum.
Hard Core Geek Boys of star trek are not Trekkies or trekkers. These guys eat, breath, live, and fantise about Star Trek as if it were real. They are the ones that show up at conventions and hiss at people who's costumes are not authentic enough. These are the guys who ask the stupid questions like "What was the combination to your safe on the Enterprise in Episode such and such?" They are the cry babies who go and tattle on people at work and no not the meaning of clean hair and fixed glasses. (They prefer to where the broken ones held together with white or black tape.) They generally will accept some non cannon star trek things, but most often just launch a letter writing compaine to have your web site shut down. They are a source of many many many negative emails over the years. I have most of them on my block list now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Now Babylon 5 fan boys are a much different breed. Mostly men who have no love of current reality and identify more often than not with characters from B5. These people are generally smarter than uber Trek fans and actaully have a life. However, they are adamant resivor dogs when it comes to cannon and anything that pokes up on their non cannon radar is instantly considered FUBAR. Re: Robotech Ship Set
As much as a sci-fi geek that I am, I can't call myself hardcore by your definition, AT. Sure, I eat, drink and breathe sci-fi, but I do know how to recognize reality. As much as I've read the novels, I still have trouble recognizing some races or remember every single detail from every single Star Wars or Star Trek book I've read. And I've probably read more SW books than I have ST books. The lack of continuity of the ST books just doesnt' do it for me. Heck, nowadays, it may take me a month to even read a book, unless I'm working on the weekends. And I don't get to watch sci-fi programming or movies as much as I'd like to. Part of it I can blame on letting my son watch whatever it is he wants to watch to keep him quiet, and part of it is my wife doesn't like to watch that stuff. Usually by the time I get the kid to bed, I start playing SEIVG and don't watch the tv, unless Jerry Springer is on. So, no, I'm not hardcore. And I would never condone the practice of blockading someone's website because it isn't 100% canon. I've met some of these types (usually playing D&D, and they're the ones who know all of the rules without cracking open a book), and I don't like them either.
