Re: DOMII PBEM game update
Has anyone noticed that their battles replays don't match the results? For two turns now my replays have been completely wrong. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I have noticed that the battle results have been different then what was said. For example, C'tis should not have gotten those wonderful elephants, for, they were all dead. Oh well.
On a different note, i'm leaving in about an hour for a short weekend excursion. I'll get back sunday night, Texas time, but i don't think i'll have access to the game until then. Sorry for all the inconvinience this may cause. Lear of Machaka |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
much apologies to anyone playing the game - my phone line is busted, and therefore my connection to all things internet (I'm writing this from work) - so I haven't played my turn and won't be able to for maybe a couple more days. If you aren't willing to wait on me it's ok - just switch me to computer-controlled (if that's still an option).
once again sorry and I'll hopefully get the problem fixed very soon. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
We have a lot of options. Someone could take over your spot, we can flip you to computer controlled, or I could just force-host for a turn (or two, depending on how fast people go) - unless you're in the middle of a war it wouldn't be a complete disaster, I guess, and you'd have lots of money when you came back.
Anyone else have an opinion? |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I have force-hosted a turn.
|
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I will force-host again on Sunday, so hopefully you get a chance to go Online before I do. I don't see any way for me to switch you to comp. controlled from the console.
Starting Monday I'll put it on a schedule; let's say hosting Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (with Sat. off). |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
further update for trebuchet and anyone else playing - I am still unconnected, except for emergency use - and will be until friday this week. I am ok with just missing turns if you can't switch me to computer-controlled. honestly I don't know what else to do. If i just miss my turns, perhaps people would be gracious enough to not destroy me utterly while I can't fight back http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I am really sorry about this whole business - sorry guys! |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
Welcome back, Patrik.
Just an update, we lost connectivity here for an hour or two at some point, so apologies if anyone got cut off in mid-turn. It should be up now, however. (And if you did get cut off mid turn, it will upload your turn when you log in again). |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
Due to a power outage, the server was down for about 6 hours today before I could get home and restart it. As a result, I have set it to not host tonight so that those who missed getting their turns in can get them in by tomorrow.

Re: DOMII PBEM game update
There is a big bug in this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
None of Jotunheim's research was counted Last turn. I didn't get the new set of spells I was expecting and my research score-graph just flattened out. Trebuchet needs to send a copy of the game files to Illwinter so they can check it out. [ December 18, 2003, 06:34: Message edited by: Catquiet ] |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I will try to do something with it when I get home. Question, though, first: what were you researching, and to what level? You realize that we're playing a Demo game, and the research is limited to L4...

Re: DOMII PBEM game update
You don't have the full Version? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
|
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
If you recall, we started this game before the full Version came out. I do have the full Version of the game, but I have left this saved game running on the same instance of the demo Version that I originally installed oh-so-long-ago.
We can transfer over to the full Version I have installed, and I believe that the saved game should translate just fine. However, I would only do so with unanimous approval from the remaining players, as I have no idea if they all have the full Version or not. To switch it over after the game already started without their approval - giving a severe disadvantage to anyone who isn't running the full Version - would be acting in bad faith. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I'm not entirely against switching, but I definitely designed my pretender with 'demo' in mind - i.e. almost no research potential. I think I would suffer from switching more than some.
Having said that, if everyone else would like to switch I will go along with that. BTW what are we doing over Christmas? I for one will be out of town for a while. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
Ouch, my aching server.
Well, there was a power outage tonight. I was here to get it back up and running in just a few minutes, though there was a scary moment when I thought I'd lost the hard drive. One thing that I noticed when I brought it back Online and set the host schedule was that somehow, two turns got processed tonight instead of one and we all missed a turn. During that turn, since we all missed it, nothing much happened aside from income and random events, but the part that hurts is that the we now can't see the results of the previous turn, including battles. Is there any way to roll back a turn? It would be nice if I could "undo" that wasted turn. As it is there are only 6 turns left unless we switch to the full Version. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
I would rather have you start a new game instead of switching, since some people have designed their nations for the demo.
Also, I want to see if I can get the hang of Ermor and single player is no good for that. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
That actually makes good sense, given that I am moving by Jan. 1 and I was kind of worried about getting my DSL set up in time to make the switch.
This game is unlikely to produce any clear winner by turn 40, but that's ok - I had that in mind when I started, too. The point was to play it. And it has been interesting. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
An update for all... Due to the SF power outage this weekend (see: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...NG4E3SBBR1.DTL for details) things have been somewhat difficult. In fact, there are still problems upstream from me that have me and others in my neighborhood knocked offline. And this also just happened to happen while the key person who could set things right is out of the country on vacation.
I am trying to work out alternatives - I do not relish the prospect of being offline for a week - but the short Version is that I will let you know when things are back up, and until then further turns won't be cycled. I tried to get this message out yesterday, but all of the internet cafes near me were closed and the wireless networks in my neighborhood were down, so apologies if any of you have been frustrated in trying to connect. |
Re: DOMII PBEM game update
My highly trained ninja strike team has snuck into the secure facility that housed the gateway server upstream from me, and fixed the problem there. The game is back up and running.
I have not set a host schedule yet, so don't worry about missing a turn. I will give it til the day after Christmas before I set a schedule to it again; though, if I notice that we have all finished our turns, I may manually have it process this Last turn just to get the show on the road. |
