They have no melee ability, and a mage casting teleport doesn't take bodyguards (or any other troops) with it. Well I manage to take out Indy 6 provinces with Human pretenders, const 2 (especially for a pendant of luck and the robe of missile protection), and some other spell buffs.

Total n00b. Played no MP Dominions games before...
Doesn't matter which race I play. I'll take any free one, since I probably will be hacked to pieces in no time anyway. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Would be happier playing a PBEM game since 12h/turn is a bit too fast for me (I've got a life, even if I somtimes wish I hadn't http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif . (Anybody trade wives? I need one that understands the glory of gaming. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ))

I'd be even happier if there was a PBEM game using PBEM helper, but that is probably too much to wish...

Re: MP Game - Yet another MP newbie game!

Well, if you're using XP, you do the following:

Create a shortcut to Dominions2 on your desktop. Right-click this shortcut and select properties. In the target box, change it to the following:

"C:\Program Files\dominions2\dom2.exe" --tcpclient --ipadr dom2.mosehansen.dk --port 2246 --clickvol 0

This assumes you installed the game in the default directory; if not then change "C:\program files\dominions2\dom2.exe" to wherever your dom2.exe file is located. The --tcpclient tells it that you're joining a multiplayer game; after the --ipadr you put the address of the server; after --port you put the port #. The line above is correct for this game. (The --clickvol 0 just turns off the mouse clicking sound, you can leave that part of the line out if you want to hear the mouse clicks drive you insane) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Then you just make your pretender like you would as if you were going to play a single player game. When your pretender is ready, exit the game and click that shortcut to connect to the mosehansen game, and you will see a list of nations to choose from. The spot next to your nation should say open; click it and it will change to human controlled, then click disconnect and you've uploaded your pretender. If it already says human controlled then someone else took your spot, you'll have to come back here to clear it up. In the future just click the shortcut to take your turns.

If you're running something other than xp (well, that probably works for all windows, except perhaps the location of the game) then someone else will have to give you the proper commands. Hopefully that's all correct, it's really past bedtime here!

Two question for people that have used mosehansen before.

1) How the heck do I start up the game ( not that I want to start it now, but when everyone has signed up ).

2) How do I turn off graphs? I like graphs they are cool. But they give information which is a bit too accurate it kind of removes a lot of the reasons for spies. I like having to build a couple of dozen spies to see what the heck is going on in the world.

Re: MP Game - Yet another MP newbie game!

So I made a mistake when SlyFrog said "he took Ulm" I just marked him down without looking over the list. Uhm was taken a while ago by Yvelina.

So I guess the correct thing to do is for SlyFrog to Go anonymous and I will kick him, allowing Yvelina ( who has not said anything about this ... I don't even know if he/she is still around ) to take Ulm.

Sorry about that SlyFrog. There are still a number of nations open though.

Errr... I messed up? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

While selecting my race on the server I clicked on Atlantis (just being curious since Atlantis and Ermor were the only ones I could select). It's status turned to human control and I couldn't change it back. So I clicked on Ermor to see if the status of Atlantis would change. It didn't. I can see that these were the only races I had created a pretender for. Neither were human, so I couldn't use them in this game. I disconnected and made a human pretender for Joitunheim. Selected Jotunheim on the server, and all is ok with that.

But what about Atlantis and Ermor? How do I disable them or can the host disable them somehow?

Sorry about that... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Ok before I do it I have to ask:

Do I start the game by hitting "restart"??

Is that how I start the dang thing? I'm really quite scared to do that since it could easily kick everyone off ( and the game is *full* ).

But I see no other UI that would get the game started.

Hrmm... it doesnt have a 'start game' button when you connect to the game? It used to give anyone the option to start the game, but that caused unending headaches so he fixed it. I dunno how the host starts now.

Game started.

HoHo. Looks like the game is set up with victory points ( I did this? I did not think so ... but whatever ). So they may mess things up ( a lot ) but not for a while I suppose. Anyway there are 5 ( only 5 ... my god. ). At least they are well spaced apart.

Man if you only need 3 to win .. this is insane. I hope that is not how it is setup.

I did not fill out any of the check boxs with VP. Anyone know what the defaults are? Would be nice if they were in the check boxes so I would have known to pump them to some insane levels ( like 1 vp per province, and then you need like 60% of the provinces to win or something ).

Super. Well I don't know what to say, exactly. As I said in the broadcast game in game, please do not EVER leave your home province with your commander.

Ok. I checked.
I'm not sure what did happen, but it seems that all is in order. Ermor and Jotun are controlled by somebody else not me (I don't know how it happened) and Atlantis is controlled by me.

And the most interesting part is that atlantis has a human pretender, even if I remembered that my Last Atlantis god wasn't one. I must have created one just for testing.

So suprisingly it seems that everything is ok...
Unless I hijacked somebody elses Atlantis, like I thought I did to Ermor and jotun?

The void lord is one of the best SC's in the game ( right up there with the VQ and the AllFather). I'm sorry that you effectivly lose some points that way, but those were the rules.

I'm sorry to be a dick to you guys about this, but both the son of Son of Niefel and the Void Lord are simply way better than any human pretender.

On the plus side given how many people are in the game being a sea nation is going to be a big plus. So you should be ok. Beware of independent strength 9 tritons though!
