Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway

I was wondering if there are ways to turn off some of the extra information that the game provides ie the score graphs and the crowns for vp locations. I have been examining these sources of intel closely, but think a game without them might be nice. Is there a switch to turn off score graphs? Is the painting of all the capitols unavoidable if they are used for vp?

archaeolept July 27th, 2004 07:53 PM

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway

hmm i thought capitals weren't supposed to be set for VP in this game?? in fact, checking the settings, there shouldn't be any capital VP.

as to score graphs, you can turn them off, but not w/ command-line switches, so not on the mosehansen server.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">On game creation, there's an option for turning off the graphs. What do you mean by "painting of capitols"?

Ozymandias July 27th, 2004 08:02 PM

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway

Each capitol in our game is appearently worth one vp, holding five grants apotheosis. I have been presuming that the crowns on the map were in fact all of our various capitols. The marking with crowns is what I was refering to.

Ozymandias July 27th, 2004 08:07 PM

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway

Are you sure about that archaeolept? I got the impression we were using vp from your post on July 23:

Game On!

there are 10 players, as opposed to the original conception of 8. As such, the victory conditions are to be the first to hold 4 capitals of vanquished pretenders (while still having your own).

Oh well, off to labor. Hopefully Vigabrand will have submited his turn during my shift.

edit: I have now learned to edit.

Victory Points are just put randomly on the map and in this game don't actually mean anything.

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway

victory points actually spread dominion... so they arent completely meaningless

yeah, they don't do much, but are something like 5pts of dom spread per VP. click on one of your temples when you have a VP crown.

I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow, and while I'm planning on submitting my turns (I've called ahead at an Internet cafe), I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, in case something goes wrong. I should check in tomorrow night 7pm (GMT-10), and worst case I'm sure I'll be able to post here, and let you all know if I have difficulty submitting turns. I plan to submit turns once per day, in the evening, if anything goes awry, or if thats too slow for anyone, I have no problems with passing on the position or setting it to AI.

No problems here, thats the beauty of 25h quickhost. And things like this are going to happen unless there's someone who never leaves their house!

Heck, I staled Turn 2...And I'm going camping in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to get a bud to buy this game so I don't stale another turn (he can take it for me). Of course, if I could convince our gracious host to go to 72h that weekend. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Frosted Flake are you okay? It seemed like you staled Last turn, and you have six hours to connect before you stale this one.

On a diffrent topic, persuant to my bug report in the bug thread, Vigabrand did you just capture province 101? Yossar did you capture province 14 or 52 at aproximately turn 9? djtool is your capitol province 103 or 118? Has anyone else captured a vp?

Sorry if this is revealing information that I shouldn't have, I just want to confirm that I have discovered a buggy information channel. Particularly I appolgize to djtool if my suspicions are correct.

Advance to turn two, press f2, switch to the vp graph, press escape, press e, end turn, play game, play belle_air, press f2. You should see a graph showing that Ulm captured a vp on turn fifteen, Atlantis captured one on turn nine or ten (his second conquest in any case), and that C'tis has had one since the beginning of the game. Nobody else has any. You're in hard_slog, that's the game I was looking at... it's vp graph didn't reveal anything interesting beyond R'lyeh being in province 132, and Jotunheim being in province 115.

Early warning...

I will probably stale this Saturday again unless one of two things:

1) Our gracious host will change this to 72h for this weekend (which wouldn't be a bad overall thing to do for every weekend. Can you set it that way?).

2) I can find someone to take that single turn.

If no response to )1 and I'll shoot for 2).

Hate to miss anything at this point, its starting to shape in what I think may be a great game (from my newbie point of view).

Fun so far guys!
