What is a Chick-Fil-A?
|
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
Chick-fil-a is a fast-food restaurant that has chicken sandwiches of different types.
They also have good waffle fries (french fries in a cross-hatch) and lemonade. On-topic: I am a small town family practice doctor in rural South Carolina with an out-patient practice and hospital admitting priviliges. |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
If you live in a different country, or the western and northern parts of the United States, you guys wouldn't have a Chick-Fil-A, which means that you are missing out on some of the best fast food out there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.

My jobs: Peeling potatos Mcdonalds Security Guard at Logan Airport Cleaning offices Courier Answering the phones in an office Delivering Pizza at Papa Ginos Then, I started taking computers apart. Started doing minor things in the office I was answering the phones at, took some part time Networking classes, A+ exams, MCSE exams, quit a couple companys and moved up riding the tech wave of the late 1990s. Now I work in the IT dept for a worldwide chemical plant (we make cements mostly). This year I installed an EMC drive array, multiple 2003 servers, VMWare and Citrix. The best advice I can give, is to find something you like to do. When I finally started working on PC's and networks, I loved going to work and still do. The odd thing is, people pay you MORE money to do something you love, than they do to get you to do something you hate, typically.... |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I work in the financial aid office of a university.

Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
If my new job in electronics construction works out well, thats what I'll be doing for quite some time. Otherwise, I will likely be taking some courses in medical assisting and radiology so I can work in a clinic or hostpital.

Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I work in a chemistry lab in a flex circuit printing shop. We make circuits for Phillips, Seagate, and Maxtor mostly. Of course we were supposed to be shut down here a few months ago, in favor of asian labor costs, but we're hanging on by 1 machine still running 'till the end of the year or so. Then I get to go job hunting again. Yeah. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif At least I get to play with chemicals for a little while yet.

Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I'm a receptionist/warehouse manager at a local blank media and duplication company. It's a mom and pop operation so raises are a little slow but we can drink beer after 4pm! surf the web on a T-1 line and play xbox 360 on the 42" HDTV plasma t.v. Keep the proles sedated and entertained so they don't revolt!
Then 12 hours a week I work as a home electronics cashier at Fred Meyer (Kroger). That money helps put the kid through private school and I get good discounts on home electronics too. With all the aging baby boomers and heavy Ipod use, I was thinking of getting into or investing in the Hearing Aid industry. Ka ching? |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I am the supervisor for a Tier 2 application support team at a major Pharmaceutical Distribution company.
I also do a lot of work at Shrapnel. |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I spend the day now doing much of nothing at all.
|
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I'm currently working for a company making DSL modems (WiFi too) and is currently in the process of making the VIOP phone sets. We also make most of the communication hardware for the major phone companies(land lines).

Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
This thread is interesting, if you were here a year ago and posted, to look back to see what you thought/were doing last year.
Heh, for me I was pretty accurate. I ended up finishing college much earlier than expected (Like April 05 instead of July 06 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif). I'm currently unemployed again and looking for part time work. But I've been doing Voluntary Work for the last 7 months. Currently I'm working on and off constantly for 4 organisations and it's been great fun! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif The main problem I have is time. There's so much more I want to take on. Dam the enthusiasm of youth http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
Worked every year of my life (except 1) since I was eight years old. That's newspaper delivery, to fast food, Greek restaurant, textile mill (in the lab testing nylon, etc. for panty hose), and when given my lottery number for the draft to service, joined Army Security Agency (intel) and that got me started in computers. 20 years later, I retired and hired on in an IT position. 5 more years and retire again. THEN I'll be able to work full time on what I like...graphic arts (where I get a few jobs by word of mouth).
I have ONE good bit of advice you should heed: Not sure what Canada does about offshoring (etc.), but when considering a career, you might give some preference to one that can't be done out of your country. |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I'm a physician ( that's the english term for doctor I think), now working at the radiology department to become a specialist in radiology, preferentially vascular intervention.
Also spending alot of time in the Swedish armed forces (joint resource for army, navy and air force) as a reserve officer. We're setting up a Role 2 hospital for UN/EU service and I'm working on the radiology part, and am also out in the forest some weeks with the conscripts healing simulated wounds. (It's quite different from when I was a conscript 1989, now there are alot of girl soldiers!! Every soldier has individual protection wests and sleeping bags and all kind of techy things, vehicles instead of skies etc!!) From the fun part and the good life part I can recommend life as a radiologist in Sweden, don't know how it's like on the american continent. |
Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I am a Contract Administrator and Compliance Officer at a small University north of Houston and am also in the Army Reserves.

Re: OT: What\'s your job/career??
I own and operate a small alarm company in the Los Angeles area. I got into the business on alarm systems and cameras and gates and such, but I'm currently spinning it more toward Home Theater, Distributed Audio, Home Automation and Systems Integration.
High school education and 5 years in the Marine Corps. Got into this stuff when a guy at my church needed an extra set of hands and hired me green. Learned by OJT. Now I gross nearly 100k/yr. and have my own business. Life has its quirks. |
