i think he was planning on playing man or ulm...not sure where van came from http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

who's playing arco.....alex?...jordan?

edit: err...this was supposed to be posted by castigated. i just logged into the wrong account.

Re: TheWatcher will play

OG, it's really up to you. I'm happy playing any race: if you think you'd have more fun with Ulm, post here and take 'em, otherwise, I'll stick with them.

Pinck, Dan's the one who wants to play Arco. I don't think Jordan or Alex check the message board often enough to know about this game (at this point, I think Mictian is the last remaining race, since Atlantis or R'yleh would have a hell of time playing with the meagre number of water provinces).

Please join me to any nation that is left, except for Mictlan that is ;-)

Re: TheWatcher will play

All this nation trading is throwing me for a loop. Everyone involved in said trading please state exactly which nation you are now playing. Once thats done we'll know if there is room for Bluebird.

Oh and Watcher I strongly suggest you play Man and not Ulm. Ulm loses power SO rapidly that you are likely to be killed off in the first round of wars. Man has much more staying power and fault tolerance.

my last game of ulm went well. i figured, "ulm sucks at magic, so i'll take a god with no magic, and just use a bless strategy"...

yeah...i know.

Re: TheWatcher will play

Haha Cast.

Watcher, I'll stick with Van...I'll try Ulm in MP as I still don't believe everyone about how weak they are. You guys can't be better than the AI right?

Honestly I am kinda freaking about playing them but I gotta learn to get out of my comfort zone. If you didn't jump at the chance to ditch Ulm I was going to stick with em. Plus theres the side benifit of not making things complicated for Iron (thanks agian for setting this up).

To my knowledge I think I´m still Pangaea.

Re: TheWatcher will play

If you need another player, I'd take mictlan or ulm (I'd prefer ulm). Although with inland, maybe you don't need anymore. In which case, I'd be happy to sub or take over a nation if someone drops out.

Ermor up for grabs

I think we need a Wiki-like web page for claiming nations, since only the thread starter can edit the "official" post. But until that happens (i have no server space or knowledge for this sort of thing) we have to use the board and the good graces of Ironhawk for organizing (thumbs up!)

All that said, I have to be out-of-town with no computer from Thursday to Sunday. So though I'd love to be part of this, I should probably bow out so Ermor is up for grabs. Keep in mind that you have to play base (Broken Empire) since that's their only non-pop-killing theme.

OG_Gleep January 30th, 2006 02:03 PM

Re: Ermor up for grabs

I'm still van. Thought I'd give Watcher the option since he gave up his original position, and took Ulm as an alternative.

As for 2 or 3 new guys, I am pretty sure the water races are still open, and now Ermor. Not sure what else is though.

KissBlade January 30th, 2006 02:51 PM

Re: The Winnowing (Noob Game) - open

Hi, I'm definitely new. Just got the game on Saturday and still haven't figured out all the fine points yet but I'll take R'yleh if someone can walk me through how MP works. Thanks in advance.

Ironhawk January 30th, 2006 02:52 PM

Player allocations

To avoid any further confusion I have alloted players to the remaining nations. Watcher will stay as Man, Zywadugu gets Ulm, Bluebird gets Ermor (BE), and Oversway gets Mict. No water nations are allowed on the Inland map.

All nations are now taken.

KissBlade January 30th, 2006 02:58 PM

Ah well, I guess I'll just stay tuned for the news. Have fun all. =)

Server up

The server is now up for pretender uploads at

IP: 67.190.105.206
Port: 2002

Before designing your pretender be sure that you have enabled the Conceptual Balance 5.2 mod. Make sure to password your pretender, as well. Game will commence once all pretenders are uploaded or at Thursday midnight.

Indeed, kissblade. Since we overflowed by 2-3 players on this game it would seem to indicate that another is needed. Perhaps when the first round of players die in the initial wars I will start another noob game. So all those players can get back in the action and everyone else who is waiting can get a chance.

Inland with 15 will indeed be crowded. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done for it - its the biggest map out of the box. Stay on your toes, everyone, its going to be bumpy from like turn 10 on!

And no, no special victory conditions. Victory by agreement, I suppose. Either be the last pretender standing or beat the hell out of everyone/make them all so afraid of you that no one contests when you claim victory.

shovah January 30th, 2006 05:34 PM

Re: Server up

biggest one out of the box is Orania actually - its large enough for all 17 - but setting up beginners on it w/out a reasonale victory condition would likely lead to something horrible happening http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Victory Conditions

I will have it known that I, Num, God of Jotunheim and Lord of the Big People, am a kind and merciful deity and will not hold a few moments of spirited independence against any near-divinity wishing to join my pantheon in a subordinate role once my obvious superiority has been established.

Suffering in eternal torment is so last incarnation. I plan to offer generous pensions and a quiet retirement to an out-of-the-way paradise dimension.
