actually, in my play testing, i'm tending to agree with pk....

anyone particularly strongly in favour of keeping them?

I'll upload shortly, but i do have a few questions about what attacks are allowed without Council sanction.

Assasination?
Spells like Hurricane, Blight, Swarm etc?
Neutral monster attacks like Send Horror?
Hostile Globals like Wrath of The Sea or Wild Hunt?
Assasin spells like Earth Attack or Mind Hunt?

Reverend Zombie April 20th, 2006 09:27 PM

I've loaded.

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

tyrant, though this is definitely open for change, my thoughts were basically that any anonymous attack was okay. if they can't prove it was you, then there is no way of being removed from the senate for such an attack, even if it was likely you.

i also believe that all globals should be allowed, though i suppose this could also be changed.

Tyrant April 20th, 2006 10:37 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

So anonymity is the criterion then. Check

Uploaded and ready to go.

if you don't have senator, it's not a big deal. i think i said in the first post "players are encouraged to..."

P.S. Looks like the game has started

did everyone manage an upload? or did someone click the start game button to soon?

ZeWanker April 21st, 2006 01:07 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Yeah I was told to start the game. Its on 48 quick host for now. If we need to restart (to change settings etc, as I used the ones discussed here) now would be a good time...

I see you altered the map file. I guess those hoping to recruit trogs, trolls, and maybe some amazons will be suprised!

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

The only change I made was no special sites, which was mentioned earlier in this thread. Otherwise I'm using the same map as here

the first senator is dead. please let us konw when your senator has been revived so we can count on his vote happening.

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

you scared me, I thought maybe it hosted and I didn't succeed at a militia heavy province! how embarassing that would be.

for some reason on every test run I did, I started in the same sector of the map - same as where I started in this game.

Honestly not the worst place to be.

ZeWanker April 25th, 2006 01:36 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

lol and why can't my senator send messages from beyond the grave?

I'll let you guys know when it's back.

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Blech! The fates did not smile favourably upon my nation. Horrible start position next to wastes and mountains and temple gone already. I even had to alchemize to build a new one!

Wish April 25th, 2006 09:59 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

yeah, thats some awful luck, but everyone has some mountains (its how the map is designed, mostly to increase resources) and some people covet wastes because of the magic sites the sometimes have.

Your area, like all areas, should have at least two wealthy provinces.

shovah April 25th, 2006 11:46 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

turns up, sorry for holding everyone up but i kinda forgot about this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
i had one of those scary moments this turn, with the enemy fleeing from my almighty senator (who was reduced to around 20 health) with my heart pounding everytime he moved incase his flying brought him face to face with a broadsword weilding warrior who could potentially kill him in 1 hit. luckily no harm done yet.

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Anyone playing draco...how did he work soloing? I couldn't get him to work, maybe because I don't understand bloodmagic that well.

shovah April 25th, 2006 01:43 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

i solo'd with mine, didnt even use blood magic.

doesnt sound like it went all that well.

well he was reduced to 20 health, won the fight and got no afflictions so not too bad.

You're right, but I forget to mention the plains are full of dragon eating crossbow men with heavy cavs and the other side man eating jade amazons. =(

I had a turn like that, turn 1, where lord anachron was reduced to 14 health, however he suffered no afflictions and everyone routed before he died. Not playing draco here either though.

I looks like everyone has uploaded but the turn did not fire

ZeWanker April 26th, 2006 02:20 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Yeah not sure what happened there, probably related to a random reboot (windows auto-update being a bastard.) Anyhow I force hosted this turn (my only option) and set it back to 48h quick host, so all should be well.

at least the senate will allow you some comfort to rebuild, likely even the weakest nations will make it into the late game, by account of the CoW game, anyway.

shovah May 3rd, 2006 09:08 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

yes, but a slow start is quite damageing since other players often grab territorys you would have otherwise gained.

If your next turn gives you 1500 gold, can I have 200 of it?

Wish May 3rd, 2006 05:45 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

my events haven't been devistating, lost my temple, but already have an inquisitor to rebuild it with. otherwise they've been mostly gems or small gold events.

KissBlade May 4th, 2006 04:59 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Oh yeah, well there was the time I got a "handful of earth gems" and I check my lab and see ONE. They could've at least not pluraled it.

castigated May 4th, 2006 05:07 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

getting 1500 gold in one turn is definitely feasibile. in rand2, i got 2 of the 500gold events in the same turn. the sad thing was that i had no problem spending every penny of it that turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

ok bye bye everyone, im surrounded by enemys and as mictain with no provinces to hunt in yet im going to be dominion killed soon. ive already lost the province that was attacked by barbarians to pythium so i'll play this to the end but just saying bye in advance.

Wish May 4th, 2006 11:01 AM

there is a 1500 gold event, it also comes with gems, and a magic item.

Maybe we need to form a Coalition of the Unlucky. You can be chairdragon, Shovah.

KissBlade May 4th, 2006 11:58 AM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

Perhaps we should propose that Pythium returns the province back to Mictlan as it was rather taken through a loophole cause than a legitimate one?

castigated May 4th, 2006 01:46 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

i would say that's a very legitimate way to get a province, but if you want to put forward a proposition, feel free to do so.

shovah May 4th, 2006 01:48 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

ive got a bad enough start that i dont mind, im already in CoW so i wont be missing much by dying. only problem now is deciding who to give my small wealth to.

KissBlade May 4th, 2006 04:04 PM

Re: The Senate of Dragon Country [sign up now!]

*** A bit of roleplaying for you all ***

Senator Black Wind speaks,

"Surely you'll see that our brother Vicente Valtiere, though temporarily deceased deserves to be treated better. After all, we are dragons and not vultures or similarly despicable scavengers. To use the example of "humans" to apply to this metaphor as the two ape like things are very easy to compare to most degenerate species, if a man trips and falls in the mud is it right to take what falls out of his pocket? In this case, the man who is doing the taking happens already to be a very rich man and the man who is at loss is but a destitute. Surely the great Senator Augustus will be glad to return what was originally Mictlans to ensure that our brother is not left with naught ..."
