If it's the same server where I'll play the newbienuzzling game then everybody there need to update and patch as well. I vote waiting for 3.02 I think it's comming extremely very soon.

Teraswaerto November 10th, 2006 03:22 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Why do you think that? Do you have some reason to think it's comming extremely very soon?

I think we should be very happy that Sheap is putting up a server for us. If he does not want to patch as it may screw with the other game that do not use the horror bug, then let us not force him.

Saarud, I think we can start playing with 3.00, if you are right that 3.02 is coming soon we will just patch.

Fine with me, as soon as I get ip and port I upload my pretender.

Also the patch fix's the army teleportation spells, while i may not be using them some people may need them.

Who are we PMing our pretender passwords to once we create them? Sheap or Folket?

Is 3.01 able to play with those of a lesser ver? Otherwise,i'm out

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

yes, but the battel replays are not accurate if there are differences.

Sheap November 10th, 2006 05:42 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

I can probably run both versions simultaneously on the same server, that is fine. I don't want to make the other game patch, since they don't have the mod and it can't be installed mid-game.

It is a shame that 3.02 is not out yet http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif That would solve all the problems.

Given the server can run both versions at once, I guess 3.01 with mod is the consensus? Does anyone object to that? I don't want to delay the hosting any more than necessary and everyone needs to make their pretender with the same mod so we need a firm decision.

Sounds like a good decision to me. That Hunter of Heros bug is plain nasty.

I'm fine with it. I'll just need instructions how to implement the mod. I've never done that before.

Go to the mods section on this forum. Find the post by Twan, u will see attachment on his post, click on it and download. Then just place the file in yr mods folder. It will effect only new games started and all it does is give hunter of heros the stats of light infantry, so any hero u have should be able to kill it. U can then play v 3.01 with no problems. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Folket November 10th, 2006 06:50 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

The mod can be found in the mods subforum. Just extract the file into your mods subdirectory of your dominmions3 directory.

Well ive got my pretender made (under the latest patch and doom horror mod), passworded and all i need is the server ip and port.

Teraswaerto November 11th, 2006 05:22 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

So which mod is it now? The one that turns him into light infantry or the false horror one?

Folket November 11th, 2006 06:45 AM

The one that turns him into a false horror is what I have downloaded.

Mods cannot be added to a game once it is in progress.

FAJ November 12th, 2006 04:00 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Ok, but why is that relevent to what I said?

I mean, I have the LI version in my mods folder for another game I am playing, and the false horror one uses the same name iirc. So, I wouldn't be able to have both, i.e. couldnt play in a flase horror modded game.

Folket November 12th, 2006 07:08 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Well, you can just rename the file. Like name it hhnerf2.dm

FAJ November 12th, 2006 07:34 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Doesn't the game check for the mod, via name?

Teraswaerto November 13th, 2006 04:58 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

I have the same problem as FAJ. If the mod is checked by name we will need to rename the mod before using it for this game, since the other game has already started so it's too late there.

Assuming we use the false horror version, that is.

Folket November 13th, 2006 05:54 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

I don't know, but the ingame name are not the same.

FAJ November 13th, 2006 01:39 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

The file in the mods folder is.

If we really wanted the false horror over the LI one (I don't know why we would) everyone could rename the false horror one, and use that. if we used a universally renamed version, it wont conflict with anyone, right?

Folket November 13th, 2006 02:04 PM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

well, it will be easier if we just all play with the LI one.

Teraswaerto November 13th, 2006 03:11 PM

The era of magic dwindles, and former mages turn their attention to strange machines. Metalworking and crafting rule the day, even religion is on the wane. Philosophers proclaim that God is dead, and no one contradicts them. But the ancient powers are not finished yet, and rise up to claim dominion over the world before all the old ways are lost.

66.171.171.25 port 2001
Only nations marked as claimed in the first post in this thread are open. If other nations are supposed to be available, let me know. The LI/HOH mod is installed. Game will start once all nations are submitted. Don't forget to password your nation and PM the password to me.

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Will upload my pretender as soon as I get home from work.

I am really bad with computers and have no idea how to mod correctly. Right now I am playing in the Newbie game that to my knowledge has not been updated from 3.00 yet. How should I install the patch and the mod so I don't ruin my other MP game?

Sheap November 15th, 2006 06:41 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

To install the mod:
Open the mod zip file. It will contain a single file called hhnerf.dm. Move this file into the mods/ directory under your (patched) dominions3 folder. To use the mod, go to the "preferences" screen, choose "mod" preferences and enable it. You need to enable the mod before you create your pretender for this game. You should disable it again afterward - the game will automatically choose the correct mod for each turn once the game is going. You should do this before you install the patch, if you are planning to keep your previous game version.

To install the patch and keep your old version:
Make a copy of your dominions3 folder. When you go to install the patch, it will choose one of the copies to patch. Whichever one it chooses is the patched version, whichever one it doesn't choose is the unpatched version. You'll only have a shortcut to one, but you can run the other by going to its folder and double clicking the dom3 program. Which version you are currently running will be displayed in the lower left corner of the screen when you launch the game.

It is not 100% necessary to keep both versions. If you play in an unpatched game with a patched version of the software, your battle replays will not exactly match the actual battle results although usually they will be pretty close. But, everything else will be ok.

Hopefully the 3.02 patch will come out soon and the need to have multiple game versions will go away.

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

Seems like my brother computer died, so I will play for him until he gets it working again. That will probably not be long, I know he likes his comp. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Version 3.00 and 3.01 work fine with eachother. We will host host using 3.01, but people can use any version they like on thier clients, but do not get worried when battle plays strangly.

I guess I said the same thing as Sheap...

I think I am going to bow out on this game now. Things are getting hectic for me now and since the game hasn't started it shouldn't inconvenience anyone to much (I hope).

So someone else is welcome to snatch up Atlantis.

Utgard, Pangaea, Tien Chi and Ermor are still out. Also, I have received only one pretender password. If you don't mail me your pretender password, you won't be eligible to get a sub if you need to take a few turns off.

Also, if the other game you are referring to is Ironhawk's "newbie EA" game, Dexlyn's nation was pretty well defeated when he went AI, so I don't think that was disappearance as much as capitulation http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Dexlyn - Ermor player had to be turned AI in another MP game I am in. So he may have dropped without telling anybody.

If u have set a master password I believe u can play anyones turn or set them to AI.

Sheap November 16th, 2006 06:05 AM

Re: Late Age game random settings, random nations

OK, if there is consensus and Ermor doesn't turn up I will start the game without him when everyone else has uploaded.

I can do that with the master password but it's better for everyone if the host has all the passwords, then the master doesn't have to be used for this purpose. It would be great if the master could be used to change the nation's password but dominions doesn't support that feature.

You should be able to overwrite it by uploading a new one for the same nation.
