Re: blood noob question
A couple of points, though i have never played Mictlan:
1. recently i have seen many players take dom 9 or 10 to start the game. Maybe just unlucky starts on my part, but in fallacy most of my neighbors had awake pretenders and 9 dominion. With 6 dominion, it was an early struggle to get more than 1 candle in my capital. I would have died for sure with 2 dominion. 2. I have fought against Jaguar Warriors, and I have to say with a triple bless, they are very hard to kill, especially when they are complimented by flying sacreds set to kill archers. But the negative scales mean you must be aggressive and attack constantly. If you are a player that likes to make treaties and build up, mictlan likely is not a race for you. 3. I like good scales, so i would not play Mictlan, but if i did, at a min. i would have f9 bless plus either a w9 or s9 bless. s9 is good because it gives them a 3rd life. w9 is good because they get quickness and close faster on their enemies. Extra attack is not really needed as a f9 blessed jag warrior typically kills whatever is in front of it quickly with its 3 attacks. But i have seen a triple 9 bless before, and early in the game that means death for most races facing them. |
Re: blood noob question
aaaaa.... what is exactly the triple bless in this context? Does it mean three full blesses (=f9,w9,s9) or what?
|
Re: blood noob question
I would guess so.

Re: blood noob question
I'm currently against a S9F9W9 bless in a team game and I think mictlan might even had some help from it's teammember... and it's not very easy..
Jag warriors hardly die between quickness, twist fate and 2 forms with high HP |
Re: blood noob question
You aren't devouring enough.
Devour his jaguars. Devour his lands. Devour his population. And gnaw a bit on his castles. And use your own teammember, unless he is gnawing on you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif BTW teammember is an ugly word. Should it be spelled team member? |
Re: blood noob question
Technically speaking, THEY should be called team member.

Re: blood noob question
In the Big Game as MA Ctis I ran across the triple bless jag warriors of EA Mictlan. Luckily it was far enough along that i had banelords, and with 100 percent fr and the right equipment banelords can kill even the triple blessed jags easily. and they even killed the horrors that were sent after them, though i did lose 3-4 to a life for a life(:
Early on would have been a nightmare. Skelly spam or nothing would stop them. |
Re: blood noob question
KO.. you do not know what you are talking about
Xietor, we are talking start of game here |
Re: blood noob question
yes, at the start of a game your best hope is a 100 percent fr sc pretender. But skelly spam is at the start of the game for ctis-or at least it should be. Enchant 3 is usually what i research 1st.

Of course I do, but I pretend I don't, so I can make you look bad http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: blood noob question
Arrows man, I'm telling you enough arrows with a bit of chaff to block are quite effective against jags so long as you've got critical mass.
|
Re: blood noob question
Not against a F9N9A9 bless. Critical mass away = )
|
Re: blood noob question
I'm not C'tis but Patala in that game. But let's not dwell on that game any longer.. I just hope I can get to KO to hurt him for that last remark http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Somewhat OT question
Does anybody find some interest in playing MA Mictlan? I tried it in SP & it just was incredibly dull... (read: jags or nothing)

Re: Somewhat OT question
MA Mictlan can cast Arrow Fend with the Sky Priests, and that's huge early on.
You've got great communion potential with Turkeys and Couatls. Sky Priests, Turkeys, and Couatls all have superb mobility with flight, Trapeze, and Teleport. The cheap Mictlan priests are great researchers. You've got great magic diversity, lack of Earth is the only glaring absence. Tlaloques get you directly into blood without bothering with using scouts for hunting, and from there new hunters are only 25 slaves each. This will also let you branch into death. Jaguars (the animals) are one of the few animal summons that are actually worth it. Antimagic is easy to cast with a Couatl. The Jade Serpents are nice summons too, and a few of them mixed with turkeys will stop any elephant rush. I'm playing with an F9A5B4 imprisoned Phoenix, but F9A5E4 would have been better, both for diversification and for reinvigoration. I thought I'd need the B4 for blood, but the summons are good enough for that. |
Re: Somewhat OT question
Well, I didn't want to use Blood as it's not thematic in this case. And after all, if I want Blood, I could play EA! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif So Tlaloques are, in my opinion, not very thematic for this era, too. BTW I used Lawgiver for Pretender - after all, it's about him! But his worth I cannot divine... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Jade Serpents I tried to use as banners for Giant Toads, but they just ran forward and got slaughtered. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Against elephant rush, though, they may be worth it... And yes, I usually try to get at least some Earth bless if I have sacred mages. Communion potential - yes, probably. But on the other hand, we have many nations with it... Many flying mages, however... yes, it may be their unique feature. Thanks in any case. |
