Re: Tempest - Random Nations, Early Era (Starting)
It's zipped up on my webserver (35% of normal size)... plus what seems to freeze the game isn't bandwidth - it's the game being occupied giving someone the map.
|
Re: Tempest - Random Nations, Early Era (Starting)
Everything worked well. I've played my first turn.
Oh, one thing about the map, it is quite a shame that the randomizer only sets border mountains and not regular ones, as some races have neat fortress types on them. I love my starting position... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

I'm also assuming the php error is because it is the first turn. |

I wrote an email to you how to fix that already, I don't care about the initial "missed his turn" messages that much personally. |

Ok.... In the other two era games I run (Radiance & Eventide) Ulm has already been defeated in turn 18 and turn 14!!!

Missing the first turn sucks... , Tien Chi hates me(or maybe my internet was just down)

Re: Tempest - Random Nations, Early Era (Starting)
I would like to officially withdraw. My scales are not what my pretender's are. And no, I'm not all spazzing about my starting position or throwing donkeys at the independents. I've heard there's a bug, but no thanks. There's zero chance I chose misfortune 2. Zero chance.
Good luck guys and gals. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

If this is the scale bug they will revert back to what was orginally picked over the next couple turns. It sucks, but typically it's not a game breaker since it happens so early... espeically if it is only 2 misfortune negative. |
Re: Tempest - Random Nations, Early Era (Starting)
I created a forum thread to find a replacement player. I will manually set Agartha to AI if we don't get a replacement before the next hosting.
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
We have a new player for Agartha: Digress!
Digress: Hopefully some neighbors will take into account your slow start and be (slightly) nicer than usual. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Agartha rises again - raises its great fist/claw/thingy in the air and proclaims "Yikes !"
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
The server is down for a moment. My apologies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Nix - I noticed you deleted you post... Did you not miss a turn? (I just want to be sure).
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
I did stall and was wondering why, but I got a helpful PM explaining the intricacies of TCP/IP play... ahem. It's my first network game and I was under the mistaken impression that turns had to run a full duration (24 hours for example) even if all players had played. Everything is much clearer now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Ahh ok... just wanted to make sure you weren't screwed (by the game). My system had time keeping issues in the past so I'm overly sensative to them.
Server is back up! Timer Reset! |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
The server has been temporarly taken off line. Suffice to say the timekeeping issue didn't completely go away... it just became not so obvious. Bascially the server was hosting it's turns about 3 hours early... which might have caused Dedas to stale unintentionally... (and possibly a couple others in the past http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif )
Once I hear from him (through a post here or email) about if he would like to revert we might be going back to immediatly before the last turn was hosted. I'll leave that up to him (i.e. if he was going to play his turn in the next 3 hours we will restore, otherwise I'll just start up the server with 27 hours on it). I'm very sorry for the inconvienence, but I don't want to screw anyone out of thier turn. Since the server just hosted an hour ago so not too many people have taken thier turns so hopefully it won't be a big deal to anyone. I'll be contacting Dedas via email and creating a sepeate thread (which I'll link to from here) on the forums about the issue. |

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
For those of you that will wonder why the server timer might increase slightly on my games.
Forum thread detailing the issue here: here. This will NOT stop my games from progressing, it's just in this particular game I want to give Dedas a chance to fix his stale if he wishes. The game will continue back on with a 24 hour hosting (though the server will read 27 hours). I'm not sure if this affected anyone else in the past... if so - my apologies! Eventually th IP will change and these games will move to a different box. |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Not able to connect to this game, though I connected to the Radiance game fine.

The middle kingdom despite its noble intentions of bringing civilisation to the untamed world, now finds itself beset on two fronts by the barbaric hordes of lankan demons and oni hailing from the land know as yomi.
We fear we will not last long but are sure we could find some way to repay those who help us in our time of need. |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
After talking with Dedas we are going to restore. He graciously offered to continue if it was a big deal, but since only a few people took thier turn AND it so early in the game I think the fairest thing would be to restore.
The game is now up. Once Dedas does his turn it will host and everyone can do thier turn. For those who already did thiers, my apologies! |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
So, the status page says turn 5, does this mean we should redo our turn 5 orders?
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)

I recommend you wait for the email notification that Tempest has hosted. If you played the new defunct turn 6 and you attempt to reconnect, there is the possiblity you're turn will be reset and you will have to redo turn 5... (not sure about this, but just to be sure). |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
you forgot to enable quick host since you restarted

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Ok, game is up and going. To make sure no one reset thier turn and didn't know it I took the game off of quick host. Once Dedas finished thier turn (and I was awake) I backed up his turn file, restored again, and put his finished turn file back. Then I hosted!
So we should be set to go now. This was the first revert I've had to do, to thanks for ya'lls patience. I'll probably do things differently next time (start the game on a different port and just give it to the player who needs to do thier turn before hosting and changeing the port back). Back to the turn grind! |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
This really sucks.... First hosting in that battle vrs lanka my pretender routed with no afflictions, this battle he took atleast 1 affliction and died.....

for some reason one of my lobos became a commander. Not a big deal really but pretty funny
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Hmmm R'lyeh had an unexplained increase in income that could be caused by cheating? Has anyone seen a warning like that before?
Maybe your lobo commander has found out how to turn lead into gold. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
I have no clue why the warning appeared, the odd lobo story continues tho.
This turn he developed magic skills (S3W2) and one of my aboleth became an ordinary unit instead (non-commander). Overall a decent trade since the lobo has amphibious and more slots.(less hp and worse leadership unfortunary aswell). http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6114/lobofx7.jpg All hail Ulugh beg, the eater of infants, aboleths and snacks alike.... |

Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
So far eeriness has been good for you, but what will you do if your luck changes?
BTW, I am playing in another game running on a server that got restarted. In that game, weird things are starting to happen, too. |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
I can't imagine how the restore could have caused this problem unless it corrupted a few bits on his turn file http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Did you see a money increase homer? I suppose we'll just keep an eye on things. |
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
The mney increase may have been a random event, mass alchemisation or just taxes being increase across the board.
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
I have a national hero but no message about it.

order 3 of course, the rest pretty standard for a R'lyeh build
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
Yeah, maybe it's the order 3 which is causing the message to appear.
|
Re: Tempest - Early Era, Random Nations (Signup)
More weirdness - I had a leader and all his troops teleport back to my home castle and the troops became part of the garrison.
