I should add: all of the other game's I've run on this server have gone fine: this is the roughest yet.

But this time, all will go well, I'm confident! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Host, let me make a suggestion. Before you start the game, reupload your pretender to your slot. Even if someone copies it over, you can always do that right before you start the game and ensure that you have the slot.

Odd. I had uploaded my pretender the night before last, and it was mentioned here later. It looks the the server has reset, but someone has taken my race. Very well.

Re: Game: Outriders (open)

Thank you for making that list Ramiro. I think a lot of people aren't monitoring the forum as much as others, and its only because Im currently active in a lot of diplomacy in 2 multiplayer games that Ive been on a lot and seen that this server keeps getting reset. I've personally had to upload my pretender 3 seperate times. May I also suggest that Zachariah please set a start date and time as there still seems to be a huge amount of confusion with this game. And to RamsHead, I certainly mean no offense in saying this, but it doesnt seem feasible to me to be able to participate in a game without stating that you are in it, which has subsequently caused a good bit of confusion as Coobe followed the path that everyone else has taken, in every game I've ever seen, of claiming the nation publicly on the game thread. That being said, we are well above the minimum number of players Zachariah wanted, so I hope me can get going sometime in the next day or so.

No offense taken. True, by not stating I had taken C'tis earlier, some confusion was created. I shall not do that in the future. Nonetheless, when coobe was confused, I revealed that I had uploaded my god as C'tis hours before he mentioned he wanted them. Despite my claiming of C'tis before he did (though not revealed until later on the thread), he uploaded his god for C'tis when the server reset. There is no right or wrong on this issue. Most here feel that the claiming of a nation only counts if it is on the thread. I feel differently. I will leave the issue at that though and bid goodbye.

Ok - is there a reason why I am not included in the list? I never got a rejection. I assume that everything is fine and I can play as Arco. My pretender still looks uploaded.

Sorry guys I'm going o opt out of this game, too many running at the moment.

Lazy_Perfectionist July 6th, 2007 01:10 PM

Re: Game: Outriders (open)

15/15. I don't believe theres a reason you're not included on the list - theres been two list- none official- of players. And I think the cause is a simple lack of organization. You weren't rejected, and neither of us who posted a list are the game hosts.

FungalReason - if you've uploaded your pretender, it doesn't look like its too late. We're at the magic number, and I see Utgard is already human controlled. But Zachariah's the one to ask. If however, you haven't uploaded Utgard, someone's already taken that slot.

Ramiro July 6th, 2007 07:38 PM

Re: Game: Outriders (open)

Hey guys I didnīt make any list: simply copied the previus posted by the host (chek the complete outrider forum)
The normal procediment when a new game is created without ramdom pretenders is claim a race in the forum, the first to claim it, get it... and please not overwrite any preterder without other justification.....

Big body of water here. I'll have to decide which way to expand, hmm... Pretty healthy world. Large body of water, few wastelands and swamps. No real mountains, of course, but at least I'm not Agartha.

2-48.

Re: Game: Outriders (open)

Okay which idiot booted Ulm? It's not listed as a playable race.

Strange considering I uploaded a Password Pretender file more then 3 or 4 days ago.

I'd have to say this is the most poorly organised game I've had the displeasure of attempting to join.

Zachariah July 8th, 2007 10:58 PM

Ulm was still open when I fired off the game on the 6th, and had yet to be claimed. Not sure what happened...

I'm guessing you missed the reboot of the game, when we all had to reupload pretenders, GameExtremist.

The scores are interesting, sort of. But I want to see how they change once my pretender wakes up. Oh well. One long year. Perhaps I should have downgraded him a bit to make Awakened.

Great! Is there also a way to check the status (who we are waiting for, time until next hosting etc.) via Web, so I do not have to fire up Dom3?

Re: Statistics

Good grief... I already see R'lyeh's capital, and Jomon's troops are already adjacent to my capital. And to the north are barbarian hordes- troops I'd handle quite easily if only I had archers. Is there a way out of this situation that doesn't involve war with Jomon and peace with R'lyeh?

I'll hold out a turn in the hope that there is some better outcome, (I may even accept advice from my enemies), but I'm really wishing my pretender was awake right about now.

The nation of Jomon, after being attacked with no provocation or warning from the nation of Atlantis, an incredibly foolish decision considering the state of his armies, declares war upon Atlantis. This unwarranted attack is sufficient casus belli and will be answered with force as I deem sufficient.

Lazy_Perfectionist July 13th, 2007 02:47 PM

Hot Atlantis on Jomon Action

Fair enough. You have casus belli. I do dispute 'no provocation or warning', though I certainly didn't put effort into diplomacy.

Look up at post #535617 - 07/11/07 11:28 AM

I also dispute 'unwarranted', though I wouldn't dispute rash.
That province I attacked - the only one I planned to attack - is adjacent to my capital. As my scouts tell me, the same is not true for you. Given the proximity of Caelum on my east, you to my south, and R'lyeh to the west, I will allow no one to occupy a province adjacent to my capital. Even without this war, I doubt I'd be able to expand further than one province out in all directions.

I'm willing to pay for that province, if a truce is on the table, but I'm not willing to let it remain in hostile control. As I have received no messengers, I must assume the worst. Negotiations might fail, and leave me facing PD and an army. Simply unacceptable.

Lazy_Perfectionist July 14th, 2007 12:37 AM

Re: Hot Atlantis on Jomon Action

Oh for fs sake... Its like I can only expand by war.

I attacked an indie. I retreated after ONE casulty, before melee, and it wasn't even the captain.

R'lyeh attacked from the west, too. At least I managed to repel the cultists. I'm okay with the close starting positions, but I'm pissed at all these indies, especially those barbarian hordes.

To whomever it may concern (Caelum) my capital is in 86. The seizure of any directly connected province will be viewed as a hostile act and will be met with immediate, though limited retaliation, and not a full fledged war. If, however, someone insists on a full fledged war, they will regret it.

Such retaliations will be limited to only a siezure of the adjacent province. A repeat offender will marked for visitations by my god. Bring it on.

Peace is also welcome, because my pretender can only kickass one nation at a time.

AreWeInsaneYet July 14th, 2007 04:22 AM

Re: Hot Atlantis on Jomon Action

...and war is not what caelumian seek.
I'm here to offer a NAP that none of us may attack each other w/o 3monthes notify, to you, both Jomon and Atlantis. It's not even the end of the first year, indy commanders still rule the whole world and I see no reason of ignite a battle between any pretender this earlier. we know how hurt a early war is.
Atlan and Jomon, should any of you interested in sign a NAP with the humble Caelum, drop me a message here or via PM. If needed, in-game message is also acceptable.

Hooray for 48 hour hosting. I haven't had to juggle to find time for the game. That said, thanks for pointing out the staller, Jazzepi. If they haven't taken their turn 31 hours from now, when the game hosts again, they haven't taken their turn for 96 hours.

Lazy_Perfectionist July 18th, 2007 01:10 AM

Re: Game: Outriders (started)

Now said, it seems shorter than 31 hours. I think you can put aside any worries of them stalling.

Same here. But it functioned the next time I tried the same minute. So whatever the problem is, its neither the IP nor the port.

So for some reason, since yesterday, everytime i try to connect to the server, the program freezes. I'm working on it, but I appologize ahead of time if this slows down the turn change severely.

Re: Game: Outriders (started)

Okay, this is a really weird workaround, but try this.

1. Double click on your icon to connect, assuming you have the IP address and port loaded into the command line.

2. Click quickly, but not super fast, on the screen area.

For some reason, this allows me to get past the point where it stalls out and freezes at the "loading game" info screen.
