Neighbor Helheim - I sent you a proposal by pm for traversing your lands with minimal hassle. See what you think.

Heh. Hat off to you, Marverni; you're certainly annoying the *heck* outta me! : )

Still, 50/50 chance of beating your movement. One of these turns, I have to smash that annoying army of yours that I'm chasing all over my provinces. Just need to move first. Grrr...

Edit: Meanwhile, my other armies will continue their offensive into *your* territories. ; )

Or, indeed:

Enemy combatants

Commanders 3, killed 2
Regular units 100, killed 51

That's perfectly fine! I'm sure your other neighbors will be happy to *watch over* your lands for you while your army of mammoths marches to its demise in Maverni territory.

Heh. Doh. Starting (most likely) an unintended war due to a mild bout of stupidity, that would probably not be believed if explained. Ah well... : )

Postponing the turn by 13 hours since IndyPendant has gone away. Um, should have done it before and as a result he's staled a turn - sorry IndyPendant!

Oh good gods.

What a time to stale me out.

Just finished a critical battle with Marverni, kicking their butts. Now he's had a 'free turn' to recover. No idea what's going to happen there--if anything.

Had my *capital* attacked by a 'group of heroes' that defeated it and laid siege to my home province. So I've lost its gems, income, and research. For two turns now.

TWO armies staling in a province that couldn't support them. Now they're diseased and starving.

ARGH!

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting

My luck was no better. Rain- Massive rain- dampened my three fire evokers so not only were their fireballs weak (killed about 6 units among 4 fire mages), but exhausted them by the second casting...

In the most critical battle I've been in so far. If it hadn't been for them, its entirely possible that I would have laid seige to the capital.

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting

I'll be helping Llamabeast with the administration for this game. If you can't get a hold of him, or he seems busy, summon me. Simple requests like AI'ing a player, delaying the hosting of a turn, or changing time intervals are within my domain of power. More arcane rituals such as glitchy turn file will require the summoning of the lord of Emails Far Travelled, devourer of turns, host of multitudes, Llamabeast.

The ritual summoning of the lord of sloth and order costs three earth gems, one water, and one death. Or just a private message.

Yep. 7:25 Tuesday.
I'm lord of sloth and order...

I'm especially proud of the 'devourer of turns' descriptor for llamabeast. Thats what he server does. Eats up .2h, poops out .trns.

P.S. That was an especially inelegant phrasing. Coffee? Don't type before awake in morning.

No worries Llamabeast; I knew you didn't do it deliberately. I was just...a teensy bit frustrated, is all...

You know, I've actually been enjoying this game a bit more than Chinchilla, and there have already been a number of interesting minor twists. I may do a writeup from my viewpoint when it's all over, if anyone is interested.: )

(Can't do it now, cuz it may reveal too much info.)

Warhammer August 8th, 2007 12:18 PM

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting

I'd be very interested in that. Chinchilla has been boring because there has been no diplomacy going on. This game people have been talking to each other and everything.

I'm not sure Lanka checks over here much. I sent him a PM a few days ago and still haven't seen anything back. Might want to send it in game.

IndyPendant August 10th, 2007 04:56 PM

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting

It took me a short bit to figure it out, but I'm pretty sure Lanka's message was a Global to all players, responding to Oceania's message from the turn before.

I too was looking at that message for a long moment, going "What the--but I haven't attacked Lanka recently!" : )

fungalreason August 10th, 2007 05:18 PM

Heh, had me very confused as well. I couldn't figure out why in the world he was worried about a NAP when I didn't even have an idea where he was on the map.

Heheh, perhaps I sould blacken oceanias reputation on the bords instead of ingame http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

So carrying on:

"Im not going to attack you, im going west" then two turns later you invade. Thats not backstabbing?

Be glad for the annoyance of the Tien Chi troops, or I would swat you like the fly you are.

Hey Helheim, I have to ask:

Did you seriously take Turmoil-3, Sloth-3, Death-3, Misfortune-3, *and* Drain-3 for your scales?!? And if so...good gods, what was your bless and/or pretender?

(Heh. And if you don't want to tell me your bless and pretender cuz we're currently in a war, that's okay too. I'm...just curious... : )

Hi everybody,

this is just a suggestion. In one of my other games (Atla), people are trying to organize a marathon were we would all link up at some time during a weekend and get a bunch of turns done. Just wondering if we could do something similar with our Mara game, if you're all interested? (and if its even possible with timezones, etc)

Heh. You're joking, right?

You defeated *one* of my armies--which was besieging your castle--by throwing everything you had at me, including your SC mega-magic Pretender. And lost around half your army in the process. Hardly a 'smackdown'.

I have a second army already on the way, and a third ready to head out should it be needed.

PDT. Pretty Durned Tough?

Heh. I must admit, I'm getty Pretty Durned Tired. I've done nothing but war since about Turn 8 or so--and in SP I'm usually a builder-type. I'd love to be able to spend even a few turns, relax, sit back and turtle up.

But nooooooo, Marverni and then Helheim had to go and attack me... ; )

thraveboy August 19th, 2007 02:12 PM

Re: Mara - EA game for newish players - recruiting

No, it pretty much was a smackdown. The only troops I lost were my disposable summons that I bring back each round. So, come on back down for a little more smackdown sandwich.

no worries - if there's only one MP rule I adhere to then its not to carry grudges from game to another. Besides, it was fun (well, kind of http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif) being thought a lesson by your Pythium communions giving a demonstration in the power of air magic!

Still good to hear Abysia is doing well, he was an honorable neighbour to me, albeit very diplomatic (I was begging him to help me out be he kept politely refusing).
