Re: Doom Chicken

No no no. Read it again. The point is that you shouldn't have the CB mod enabled since it's not a CB game. I could have said "make sure you have no mods enabled", but that would be mildly misinformative since no other mods that I know of make any difference to pretender costs. Creating a pretender while you've got the CB mod enabled is pretty much the only thing you can do to screw the process up (the server will accept the pretender, but once the game starts Dominions will accuse you of cheating and turn your pretender into a pointless magicless archmage), so I thought I had better mention it.

That is obscure. Rigden Jyepo is in buddist myth, no? what is he supposed to do? Something about leading armies of goodness to destroy evil?

According to Sungma Lama's book "Agartha" (1951), Rigden Jyepo ("King of the World") led a tribe of people underground and founded a kingdom there sixty thousand years ago, and watches over Earth till now in constant spititual contact with Dalai Lamas http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Intesting... I never would have thought Agartha was a real reference, but wikipedia says there's a lot I hadn't heard of. Might make for interesting reading.

Re: Doom Chicken

For thousands of years one of the worlds oldest races, the Aboleths have kept mostly to themselves at the bottom of the ocean. They were a danger to anyone who got to close, but they never wandered far from their territory. No one has ever been able to communcate with them or understand what they are thinking. Now for the first time the aboleths have organized themselves. They have begun enslaving the creatures of the sea who were closest to them, to form an army. Atlantians have likely noticed that some of their deep ones have dissapeared, and that more frequent Aboleths have been spotted lately. But the Atlantians like eveyone else is still unaware of the true danger that they face.

Re: Doom Chicken

I believe Atlantis has been having fun with the messaging system. If I'm supposed to be taking it seriously, my mistake. However, I'll respond in what I believe to be the spirit of the message.

duke_commando August 19th, 2007 08:05 AM

Re: Doom Chicken

Sauromatia also got this message, and we've tasked the useless old crap we get instead of a scout to decode it. The only word he's been able to find so far is "Ry'leh" which he thinks might mean R'lyeh. Perhaps its a warning about this mysterious people.

I got three.
Here's my response.

Also, this is the first game I'm keeping all my saves + 'playbyplay.txt' for an AAR. It would be more convenient to post it as it goes on, but somehow I think that's not a brilliant idea?

Re: Doom Chicken

Umm... I, the Atlantian in question, did not recieve your reply. I looked at it on the forums here though.

Naturally, your lizardly arrogance blinds you the the fact that frogs can walk on land as well as swim, unlike lizards. Furthermor, we are not adverse to conquering other foolish non-amphibious folk in between our civilizations.

In other news, there might actually be a coded message somewhere. Or there might not be.

And I'm utterly serious about the fortune telling. One Gold.

Re: Doom Chicken

... I've been maintaining a partial play by play text... but have had nothing mentionable since [classified], which made me happy. But I haven't even met my neighbors yet, so there's no guarantee I'm even capable of using it. Especially since my pretender design was confused- though my strategic goal was clear, and straightforward. And [classified] has confused my strategic goal even further plus an unrelated change of research plan as well. Fortunately, it was early enough I don't think it will cripple me.

Lazy_Perfectionist August 23rd, 2007 04:12 PM

Re: Doom Chicken

Nearing stage one of my strategy- research was involved. Unfortunately, I'm near the bottom of the province race now. I'll be diverting my efforts to expansion now. Here's hoping.

*Squawk!*

Not there yet, though, and it's not a world shattering research goal, just a mildy useful one. I'm trying to go into games now with a plan of action, instead of blindly. Since I couldn't think of anything late game, i focused on having a loose starting strategy. Writing an AAR report after every important turn helped as well, where normally I might just recruit a homogeneous bunch of troops and send them off without bothering with things like formations or tactics. I'm playing for history, now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

My mid-game strat is more a collection of ideas than anything game-winning, or tested. But it is there, for once. I'll probably be focusing on diplomacy, to limit my risk to one front while I test out this strategy - which I'm not even certain I'll be able to pull off, though I did weigh things as heavily in my favor as possible, though it cost me a couple more sacrifices than usual.

i will be away over the weekend and xietor will sub for me, so please direct diplomacy ment for kailasa towards me.

Re: Doom Chicken

I will need links to mods used.

I am using 2 different versions of worthy heroes mods already in other games, and I think there was a recent patch that changed it yet again.

if people are not all using the same version, it can cause some weird issues.

Valandil August 24th, 2007 04:22 PM

Re: Doom Chicken

we ae all using 1.7, no (b) at the end.
Also, there are links in this thread: 1.7 worthy heros and big game mod.

Also, you should give all your gems and gold to atlantis, because you're a nice person.
